Data quality is all about collaborative working with a shared purpose and this is the main driver behind our road shows during 2015/16. Any efforts to improve data quality should have mutual benefits and should provide a platform for discourse between all involved. Collectively we can ensure that the data that is used to inform decisions about the workforce at local, regional and national level is as accurate as possible. Good data quality can't guarantee good decisions are made, but poor data quality will definitely increase the likelihood of poor decisions and poor outcomes.

Dr. Cesar Morcillo Serra discusses digital health initiatives at Hospital Cima Sanitas in Barcelona, where he has implemented several digital tools like telemonitoring, video consultations, and chatbots. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these tools helped provide care while avoiding overcrowding and allowed remote monitoring of patients. Dr. Morcillo believes digital therapeutics have potential to help manage chronic diseases but barriers include regulatory issues and gaining acceptance from healthcare professionals. Artificial intelligence and data analysis from digital tools could help control future pandemics by identifying at-risk groups and predicting spread.
Digital transformation where healthcare players are missing opportunitiesJames Downes
This document discusses digital transformation in healthcare and where opportunities are being missed. It notes that digital transformation requires putting customers first, focusing on their journey and outcomes rather than internal needs. Healthcare is currently less digitally mature than other industries. While some players like Google, insurers, and startups are innovating, healthcare institutions tend to make long-term bets and are risk-averse due to regulations. The document advocates adopting a service design thinking approach to solve patient problems. A case study highlights how a startup built an MVP to engage both patients and physiotherapists by addressing a real customer need.

Digital health innovation - future nhs stage, 1pm, 2 september 2015NHS England
Expo is the most significant annual health and social care event in the calendar, uniting more NHS and care leaders, commissioners, clinicians, voluntary sector partners, innovators and media than any other health and care event.
Expo 15 returned to Manchester and was hosted once again by NHS England. Around 5000 people a day from health and care, the voluntary sector, local government, and industry joined together at Manchester Central Convention Centre for two packed days of speakers, workshops, exhibitions and professional development.
This year, Expo was more relevant and engaging than ever before, happening within the first 100 days of the new Government, and almost 12 months after the publication of the NHS Five Year Forward View. It was also a great opportunity to check on and learn from the progress of Greater Manchester as the area prepares to take over a £6 billion devolved health and social care budget, pledging to integrate hospital, community, primary and social care and vastly improve health and well-being.

Building Digital Strategy Roadmap For Digital Transformation Complete DeckSlideTeam
Digital strategy roadmap is a blueprint for aligning business goals with your digital strategy. It shows how the company plans to embrace digital technologies to grow business and create better customer experience in the long term. Creating a digital strategy roadmap is not simply listing out key digital initiatives and giving them a tentative timeline. It follows an extensive research process which starts with Digital Review. It starts with uncovering consumer insights and market insights. One then develops Digital Strategy keeping in mind the digital goals and key initiatives in the short and long term. The third step in this process is Digital Planning which involves setting realistic time frame for implementing digital initiatives. The final steps involve setting KPIs for measuring the success of digital strategy. Taking the healthcare sector as a case study, our researchers have outlined the digital landscape of the industry and showed key digital strategies a healthcare provider wishes to implement for digital transformation. https://bit.ly/3bL7TlW

Harnessing the Power of Healthcare Data: Are We There YetHealth Catalyst
What can healthcare learn from Formula One racing? According to Dr. Sadiqa Mahmood, SVP of medical affairs and life sciences for Health Catalyst, race support teams leverage about 30TB of baseline data to create a digital twin of the car, track, and racer for simulation models that drive decisions at each race. Applied in the healthcare setting, a digital twin can help clinicians better understand each patient and their health conditions and circumstances in real time and make comprehensive, informed care decisions. But for the healthcare digital twin to happen, the industry must move away from data silos and towards a digital learning healthcare ecosystem.

The connected world brings many opportunities to healthcare, the question is how do we unlock them?
With the increase in chronic health conditions, and pressure on health services - driven by ageing populations and post-recessionary healthcare budgets - there has never been a better time to leverage the benefits of connected technology.
But with so many possibilities open to healthcare businesses across hardware devices, software applications and operating systems, it’s difficult to know where to focus to create the most value.
This paper highlights the opportunity and details the principles and journey to unlock it.

Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
