Data analysis and brain
Insights:
• The whole presentation revolves around the fact how data analysis can help in
creating great tv shows or make great decisions.
• Game of thrones: How did it become so famous?
• Amazon v/s Netflix
• Data v/s brain
How to get a successful idea?
• Analyzing how the idea would work on the target audience.
• Having data collected so that analysis can be made
• Getting into certain decisions
• Executing those decision and taking little risks
Game of thrones: How did it become so
famous?
• Demand of fantasy in audience.
• Collection of tweets and feedback from audience
• Checking on the ratings on the sample episode to make sure everything is done
accordingly
• Keep a watch on reactions of the video launched
• Taking little risk and executing the decisions.
Amazon v/s Netflix
• Amazon checked on data sets by releasing sample episodes on air and keeping a
close watch over the audience as in how are their reactions.
• What does the audience do with the video?
• How many times they pause, forward, play again, skip video?
• The above makes them analyze what are the requirements of the audience and
what and how they like the content.
• Post numerous collection of millions of data and data crunching amazon gave
into a conclusion and release a tv serial
Amazon v/s Netflix
• Netflix on the other hand carried out similar steps.
• It also released sample shows and checked on tweets and comments from the
target audience.
• Huge amounts of collection of data and data crunching was executed.
• Taking risks and executed the decision based on the results of data analysis.
Amazon v/s Netflix
• The winner was Netflix.
• The reason being Netflix did everything that Amazon did but there was this one
single thing that Netflix did extra.
• Netflix applied brain intuitions and allowed the brain to come to a decision and
not only the data set.
• Hence taking little risks and allowing the brain take decision brought them
success on their tv show.
Data v/s brain
• In the earlier Amazon v/s Netflix example data worked beautifully for one and
didn’t work for the other why?
• Data can definitely give us a clear picture to all our problems but it is just a
method to the result and not the result obtained.
• We need to apply our own instincts to derive into a solution.
Data v/s brain
• Data is just bits and pieces.
• Analysing them basically brings back concluding everything back together.
• It is not the data it is the brain that concludes every problem.
Conclusion
• Data analytics cannot help in completely solving the issue it only helps in opening
up the problem and analysing the issues.
• A merger of brain and data can bring to a realistic and successful solution.
• Its not data its risks.
