The Sensex and Nifty indices closed marginally higher, while European markets rose and US indices fell. Top gainers on the Nifty included PVP Ventures, Visa Steel and FIEM Industries. Top losers included Integra Garments and Birla Cotsyn. Bank Nifty underperformed, falling 0.35%. FIIs were net sellers of Indian shares. Most sectoral indices closed flat to higher. Key index contributors pulling it up included HDFC, L&T, Bajaj Auto and M&M, while pullers down included Coal India, HDFC Bank and Hindalco.

European indices FTSE, DAX & CAC were up by 0.15% to 0.62% resp.
NASDAQ was down by 0.25%, Dow Jones Ind. Avg. was down by 0.32% prov.
Sensex up by 19.25 pts @ 19920.21 & Nifty up by 2.70 pts @ 5892.45 . The
BSE Sensex ended with mild gains on Tuesday after earlier rising nearly 1 percent,
reversing a two-day losing streak, on value buying in beaten down rate-sensitive shares,
while the Nifty found support around its 200-day moving average. FIIs sold Indian shares
worth of 805.7 million rupees on Monday, snapping their five-day buying streak. They
had bought around 127 billion rupees worth of Indian shares over the previous 12
sessions till Friday.
