A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

If I approved your question, still need to get Amanda’s approval. You do realize that this is worth 15% of your grade, right? I’ve made some changes to the syllabus (pushed back due dates). Always check the version at the top of our Canvas homepage. Participation for today: 3 possible points. One for full discussion Two for topic brainstorming activity.

- 5. EWRT Research Paper Brainstorming: Finding the Question 1. Write the title of a tentative topic on the top of the paper. It should be a word or phrase, not a question. 2. Briefly state why you chose it. 3. Write down what you know about this topic already (statistics or facts, extent of the problem, important people involved, schools of thought, common misconceptions, observations you’ve made). [5 minutes] 4. List five questions you’d like to know about this topic. [5 minutes] When you get a classmate’s paper, do two things: 1. Add a question about the topic that you’d like answered. 2. Put a star or a check next to the question you find most interesting (it could be yours).
