ऋषीणाम् अस्ननकल्िानाम् दण्डकारण्यवाससनाम् ।।
स: Rama, राक्षसानाम् for rakshasas (abode of), वने in
that forest, तेषां to those ascetics, तथा that prayer,
प्रनतशुश्राव *assented assured , ऋषीणाम ् of the
ascetics, अस्ननकल्िानाम ् in luster resembling flaming
fire, दण्डकारण्यवाससनाम ् inhabitants of Dandakaranya,
संयनत in the battle, रक्षसाम् of rakshasas, वधश्च
slaying also, रामेण by Rama, प्रनतज्ञातः was promised.

ननजघान वने राम: तेषाम् चैव िदानुगान् ।
ततः thereafter, शूिपणखावाक्यात् (instigated) by the words
of Surpanakha, उद्युक्तान् ready for a battle, सवपराक्षसान्
all the rakshasas, खरम् एव Khara only, त्रत्रसशरसं च Trisira
also, दूषणम ् Dushana, राक्षसं च एव rakshasas also, तेषाम्
their, िदानुगान् च एव followers also, राम: Rama, वने in
the forest, ननजघान killed.

तस्स्मन् वने in that forest, ननवसता by who was
living, जनस्थानननवाससनाम् of the inhabitants of
Janasthana, रक्षसाम ् of rakshasas, चतुदपशसहस्राणण
fourteen thousand of them, ननहतानन आसन् were
killed.

सहायम् वरयामास मारीचम् नाम राक्षसम् ।
तत: thereafter, रावणः Ravana, ज्ञानतवधम ्
slaughter of fellow rakshasas, श्रुत्वा having heard,
क्रोधमूनछपतः became violent with anger, मारीचम ्
नाम named Maricha, राक्षसम ् rakshasa, सहायम ्
help, वरयामास sought for.

Sloka 47 राम: सवपराक्षसान् ननजघान Thereafter Rama killed in the fight all the rakshasas, Khara, Trisira, and Dushana with their followers in a battle who were instigated by Surpanakha' s words.

Sloka 48 रक्षसाम् ननहता नन आसन ् During (When) his stay in that forest Rama killed fourteen thousand rakshasas who were inhabitants of Janasthana.
