CVS announced it will stop selling cigarettes and tobacco products in its stores by October 2014 in order to focus on health and wellness. This decision is estimated to cost CVS $2 billion in annual revenue but aims to set an example for other retailers by no longer providing products that can harm health. While removing cigarettes may boost sales in other store sections, it remains to be seen if other companies will follow CVS' lead in banning tobacco.
