Personal Statement
I am an organized, professional person with vast experience of working to time critical deadlines with a particular passion for
Occupational Health & Safety. I am very personable with excellent communication skills and extensive experience in managing
and developing relationships with suppliers and contractors.
I have responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of one of Babcock's key office facilities by organising reactive and planned
maintenance and managing all external contractor work on site as well as dealing with ad-hoc requests from senior
management. I have taken on the additional responsibility of becoming operational Health and Safety lead for the site and have
completed my NEBOSH General Certificate via distance learning.
This year I was given the responsibility of leading a project to renovate Babcock's office premises. This involved:
* Sourcing suppliers and quotes for the works ensuring best value for money.
* Supervising various contractors including painters, decorators, carpet fitters and HVAC engineers out of hours, signing
off work once it had met the agreed standard
* Communicating plans of work to all office employees in order to ensure minimal disruption to the working environment.
Keeping the office updated on the progress of the works.
* Working with the General Manager to ensure work did not exceed budget.
Employment History
Babcock Land Limited (Contract Hire) - Compliance Coordinator November 2013 – present.
As Compliance Coordinator my duties include:
* Arranging reactive and scheduling planned maintenance for the office. Through being highly organised and acting
swiftly, ensuring repairs are completed within SLAs and the building remains legally compliant. Examples include annual PAT,
electrical testing and site surveys.
* Management of all contractors who are conducting maintenance work on site. This involves using strong
communication and negotiating skills to ensure their work is completed to the agreed standard, in line with Risk Assessments
and Safe Systems of Work and they conform to local site health and safety rules.
* Carrying out Risk Assessments for Babcock's site, being proactive and reviewing risk assessments where changes to
the site deem it necessary.
* Recording and Investigating all accidents and near misses. This involves a high level of organisation and attention to
detail to ensure the in house system is accurate and kept up to date to enable reports to be prepared as when they are needed.
* Identifying employee health and safety training needs and arranging as required. This involves speaking to various
different training providers in order to gain best value for money and arranging training dates that are both suitable to the
business and the individual.
* Using excellent communication skills and a professional approach to induct new starters in to the business.
* Chairing six monthly Health and Safety Committee meetings - Involves prior planning and organisational skills to ensure
that all representatives who are needed at the meeting can attend and then promptly disseminating clear, concise meeting
notes.
* Being flexible and willing to deal with Ad-hoc requests such as stationary and furniture orders.
Other responsibilities as Compliance Coordinator include:
* New vehicle deliveries - Managing the Ministry of Defence vehicle delivery process from receipt of order through to
vehicle build, including vehicle handover, familiarisation training and all associated paperwork.
* Communication with the Ministry of Defence on a daily basis , informing them of the progress of their vehicles and when
their vehicle will be delivered
* The control of both inbound and outbound documentation associated with of old MOD assets being removed from
contract.
* Assist in the control of supplier due diligence through on-going maintenance of compliant and up to date associated.
Babcock Land Limited (Contract Hire) - Procurement Administrator – January 2013 - November 2013
* Assisting with the procurement of new vehicles by managing quotations and technical documentation.
* Ensuring required health and safety documentation was up to date and keeping an up to date health and safety training
log.
Babcock Land Limited (Contract Hire) - Customer Service Operator June 2008 – December 2012
* Scheduling asset maintenance at the most convenient time to customer this included inspections, tail lift weight and
MoT's. This was heavily supplier focused and required strong relationships to be built with vehicle maintenance suppliers.
Agency work: Various: May 2005 – June 2008
Whilst studying at University I worked in various roles through the holidays. These ranged from various warehouse and
production line roles to gardening.
