Communication skills Writing: I prepared a monthly review of FNB’s banking

the publishing of two research reports, of which I was
the principal author. I was employed as a freelance
journalist for the Daily Maverick, writing an average of
7 000 words / six articles a month.
Presenting: I have presented as a lecturer and through
my work at Econometrix and FNB. From February to
August 2009 I created an educational tool and
presented it to an audience of 25 NGO
representatives. I am very comfortable presenting
information and interacting with an audience. I present
LGSETA-accredited training material for Citydex.

of a municipal database, incorporating and analysing
information across all 283 municipalities.
Leadership: I worked as chairperson for the UCT
branch of Amnesty International, increasing
membership numbers, creating new events and
managing members under various portfolios.
RECENT PROJECTS
- Economic and financial analysis of proposed municipal demarcations: National
Treasury commissioned Wendy Ovens and Associates (WOA) to analyse 12
proposed changes to municipal boundaries in South Africa. I subcontracted to
WOA and analysed the effects of the proposed changes to municipal budgets
and credit ratings.
- Costing analysis for the creation of municipal planning and development: The
Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR) commissioned
research for the implementation of the Spatial Planning and Land Use
Management Act (SPLUMA). I was consulting economist, creating the budget
framework for municipal implementation. The project was completed in February
2015.
- Analysis of the National Development Plan (NDP) part two: I was consulting
economist (freelance) for a summary of the 2014-19 medium-term strategic
framework (MTSF). The summary was published in the Business Day and
commissioned by the Times Media Group (TMG). The work was completed in
November 2014.
- Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme
(REIPP): Empowerdex consulted to the Department of Energy (DoE) for bid
windows 1 and 2. This work was completed over 2014.
- Analysis of the National Development Plan (NDP): I was consulting economist
(freelance) for a summary of the NDP. The summary was published in the
Business Day and commissioned by the Times Media Group (TMG). The work
was completed in November 2013.
- Feasibility study for the creation of a centre of excellence: The Department of
Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR) commissioned a feasibility study.
I was financial analyst (freelance). The project was completed in 2013.
- Analysis of municipal electricity tariffs: Empowerdex analysed the electricity
prices and tariffs for the ten largest municipalities in South Africa. The study was
commissioned by the Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG). I managed the
project, which was completed in 2013.
