Successful implementation of HyperWorks in the postgraduate studies on CAE ba...Altair
Since 8 years Polish constructors have enrolled to post-graduate courses named "Computer Simulations for Engineers", in order to better understand and practice numerical methods, especially the Finite Elements. The presentation describes the structure of this succesful initiative, involving several partners, led by the Dept. of Physics at the Technical University of Gdańsk, and DES ART engineering company. Although the Studies are supposed to give a possibly broad perspective, HyperWorks has gradually become the dominating software, recognised by the participants as professional, efficient and versatile. The syllabus includes over 20 courses grouped into 9 blocks. Apart from learning FEA basics, having lectures on case-studies and making short trips into the world of nano-scale or electromagnetics, the students are introduced into most of standard structural HW solvers (OptiStruct Analysis/Optimization, RADIOSS, AcuSolve). Training in HyperMesh is also provided during several hand-ons at varied level of complexity. The presentation illustrates the attractive concept of Creative Projects with examples from recent simulations performed by the participants. Finally, perspectives of evolution are sketched, and some encountered difficulties are discussed.

Lead time reduction in CAE: Automated FEM Description ReportAltair
For each deliverable FE-Model a FEM description report needs to be generated. Since this document contains always the same type of information, it is an ideal candidate to automate the creation of this report. Based on the Hyper Report Tool from Altair, RUAG Space and Altair developed a tool to automatically generate the FEM Description Report. The tool requires the HyperMesh data base and the output files from FEM checks as inputs. Together with the tool template, guidelines are provided on how the data base needs to be set up, such that the report can be created automatically. The main structure of the FEM Description Report is dependent on the assembly structure of the HM data base.

Locative Media And Responsive EnvironmentsJeff Watson
This presentation explores the evolution and trajectory of ubiquitous computing technologies that enable designers to embed media artifacts and computational systems in physical space. By placing custom bar code glyphs, GPS/Google Earth markers, sensor systems or other smart-phone-readable triggers in physical locations, designers can create hyperlinks connecting real-world objects or places with a wide variety of media -- from video, audio and text content to dynamic data feeds and opportunities for interactions with both human and non-human agencies. Crucially, however, this layering practice does not stop at the level of the hyperlink or the traditional notion of Augmented Reality. Rather, designers are beginning to perceive opportunities for embedding responsive computational power in physical space, enabling environments to track, profile and communicate with their inhabitants, providing customized, adaptive and anticipatory user experiences.
How do you build hardware startups in 2015? Same questions, new answers. This presentation was first given at HAX 7 Demo Day and UC Berkeley in November 2015.
DigiPharmaX 2016 - India's 1st Pharma Digital Excellence AwardsAnup Soans
Digitization and Mobility is driving a complete makeover of the Indian Pharma industry. In this context, DigiPharmaX Awards aims to recognize the digital & mobility initiatives of Pharma companies. In its evolved form DigiPharmaX forum aims to be an industry wide knowledge & best practices sharing platform.
This will in long run also help in recognizing the thought leaders who are leveraging technology to achieve improved efficiency, reach and cost optimization. This idea has been ably supported by Global Space Technologies and Microsoft who are pioneering this effort, backed by some of the most distinguished and reputed Media Houses.
The awards would be adjudged very transparently by a distinguished jury panel. Nominations are invited from the Pharmaceutical industry under the various categories as mentioned under ‘categories’.
The Jury has put in a standard process to scrutinize every nomination and the winners would be awarded at a function which will have a panel discussion by esteemed panelists followed by a festive evening and dinner at Mumbai.
