Responsibilities:
o Oversight management of the National Integrated Cyber Infrastructure consisting of
the South African National Research Network (SANReN), the Centre for High
Performance Computing (CHPC) and Data Intensive Research Initiative of South
Africa (DIRISA);
o Develop and coordinate inputs into the National Infrastructure bids to the National
Treasury for additional funding for research infrastructure in South Africa;
o Management and development of the South African Basic Sciences;
o Soliciting projects, awarding funding and monitoring progress for the High-end
Infrastructure projects;
o Implementation and management of portfolio of projects for the South African
Research Infrastructure Roadmap (SARIR) projects.
Projects I am managing or managed while in this post:

January 2014 to date): Providing ongoing oversight management to the
consultants appointed for the execution of the project. Act as a liaison person

implementation. The project is ongoing and presently busy with drafting of
project implementation plan.

The projects I managed while in this post were:
Portfolio of multi-disciplinary projects for poverty alleviation through science and
technology, funded by the European Union (18 October 2010 to 28 February 2013):
Managed portfolio of 13 multi-disciplinary poverty alleviation projects, they were
community based projects in the following areas:
 Agronomy;
 ICT;
 Renewable energy; and
 Water.
More than 80% of the projects were successfully completed within the original scope,
time and budget.

Responsibilities:

The projects I managed/was involved while in the post were:
 Construction of Florida Lake Canal: The Canal was from Florida Lake to
Fleurhof Dam and 2 km in length (January 2009 to October 2010): The
Council for Geoscience’s (CGS’s) role in this construction project was that of the
Project Urgent and hence my role was that of the Urgent Representative (Project
Manager). My main responsibilities were to manage project project schedule,
payment certificates, project contracts, project stakeholder, reported weekly,
monthly and quarterly to the project stakeholders.
 Geotechnical and Environmental investigation for the Moretele Local
Municipality (April 2009 – March 2010): In this geotechnical project I managed
geotechnical investigation study at the Moretele Local Municipality area by:
managing mapping exercise, gathering of data, laboratory analysis work and
compilation of maps using GIS software and geotechnical reports. My other
responsibilities in this project were management of project schedule, project cost
and project scope. The project was successfully completed within the scope, time
and budget.

 Geotechnical Urban Development Plan, investigation for Umjidi
(Barberton); Laingesburg and Mesina Local Municipalities (April 2008 to
March 2009): The Council for Geoscience in collaboration with Umjidi;
Laingesburg; and Messina Local Municipalities was tasked to conduct
geotechnical investigation in Umjidi, Laingesburg and Mesina for geotechnical
urban development plan. My role in this urban development project was a
Geotechnical Project Manager whereby my main responsibilities were to manage
the geotechnical mapping exercise through gathering of geotechnical data, did
laboratory analysis work and compilation of maps using GIS software and
previous geotechnical reports. I did internal presentation of the geotechnical
findings in the Geoscience Engineering Unit management meeting and external
presentation to Umjidi, Laingesburg and Mesina Municipality leaderships as a
means of giving advice based on geotechnical findings.
 Regional geotechnical mapping in Silverton Sheet – 2528CB (April 2008 to
March 2009): My role in this project was that of the Assistant Project Manager
whereby I was responsible for assisted the Project Leader in managing the
collection of data processes, analyses and compilation of scientific geotechnical
report and compilation of geotechnical maps using of GIS software. The project
was completed successfully within the scope, time and budget.
 Detection of Abandoned Mineshafts and Related Shallow Undermining Using
3D Electrical Resistivity Tomography (April 2008 to Dec 2009): This was a
Department of Minerals and Energy project awarded to the Council for
Geoscience as a project urgent, to analyze and interpret the data collected through
the geophysics instrumentation and compile the report on abandoned mineshaft in
Witwatersrand basin. I was the Assistant Project Manager tasked to manage the
collection of data, analyses of the data and compilation of report with
recommendation to the stakeholders. The project was successfully completed.

 Limpopo Landslide Mapping (March 2008 to September 2008): My role in
this project was Assistant Project Leader, responsible of manging mapping of
landslide in Limpopo using Google-Earth software, went to the site to confirm
landslide mapped and gave scientific advice concerning landslide to the Project
Leader and the project stakeholders.
 De Hoop Dam Core Logging (June 2008 to August 2008): As a Junior Project
Manager in this project my responsibility was to assist in managing the
preparation log sheet using DOT plot software, analyse results and compile
geotechnical report based on the analysis results for the Project Manager and the
project stakeholders.
 Township Application Review on non-dolomite areas (February 2008 to July
2008): I worked in this project as a Trainee Project Manager. I reviewed the
township application forms and gave comments on the viability of the area for
township development. I geo-referenced the areas geotechnically investigated and
plot area coordinates on GIS and topography map. I gave advice to the
stakeholders.

The projects I managed while in this post were: Portfolio of multi-disciplinary projects for poverty alleviation through science and technology, funded by the European Union (18 October 2010 to 28 February 2013): Managed portfolio of 13 multi-disciplinary poverty alleviation projects, they were community based projects in the following areas:  Agronomy;  ICT;  Renewable energy; and  Water. Daniel Manama Mokhohlane: Curriculum Vitae Daniel Manama Mokhohlane: Curriculum Vitae 4.2.3 Employer: Council for Geoscience Nature of Business: Earth Sciences Position: Scientific Officer Dates of Service: 04 February 2008 – 15 October 2010 Responsibilities: o Project management of geotechnical projects; o Environmental management; o Conducted scientific (geotechnical) investigations o Compiled geotechnical reports; o Presented the results of the geotechnical studies to the stakeholders; and o Gave geotechnical recommendations to the stakeholders. The projects I managed/was involved while in the post were:  Construction of Florida Lake Canal: The Canal was from Florida Lake to Fleurhof Dam and 2 km in length (January 2009 to October 2010): The Council for Geoscience’s (CGS’s) role in this construction project was that of the Project Urgent and hence my role was that of the Urgent Representative (Project Manager). My main responsibilities were to manage project project schedule, payment certificates, project contracts, project stakeholder, reported weekly, monthly and quarterly to the project stakeholders.  Geotechnical and Environmental investigation for the Moretele Local Municipality (April 2009 – March 2010): In this geotechnical project I managed geotechnical investigation study at the Moretele Local Municipality area by: managing mapping exercise, gathering of data, laboratory analysis work and compilation of maps using GIS software and geotechnical reports. My other responsibilities in this project were management of project schedule, project cost and project scope. The project was successfully completed within the scope, time and budget.

Daniel Manama Mokhohlane: Curriculum Vitae Daniel Manama Mokhohlane: Curriculum Vitae  Geotechnical Urban Development Plan, investigation for Umjidi (Barberton); Laingesburg and Mesina Local Municipalities (April 2008 to March 2009): The Council for Geoscience in collaboration with Umjidi; Laingesburg; and Messina Local Municipalities was tasked to conduct geotechnical investigation in Umjidi, Laingesburg and Mesina for geotechnical urban development plan. My role in this urban development project was a Geotechnical Project Manager whereby my main responsibilities were to manage the geotechnical mapping exercise through gathering of geotechnical data, did laboratory analysis work and compilation of maps using GIS software and previous geotechnical reports. I did internal presentation of the geotechnical findings in the Geoscience Engineering Unit management meeting and external presentation to Umjidi, Laingesburg and Mesina Municipality leaderships as a means of giving advice based on geotechnical findings.  Regional geotechnical mapping in Silverton Sheet – 2528CB (April 2008 to March 2009): My role in this project was that of the Assistant Project Manager whereby I was responsible for assisted the Project Leader in managing the collection of data processes, analyses and compilation of scientific geotechnical report and compilation of geotechnical maps using of GIS software. The project was completed successfully within the scope, time and budget.  Detection of Abandoned Mineshafts and Related Shallow Undermining Using 3D Electrical Resistivity Tomography (April 2008 to Dec 2009): This was a Department of Minerals and Energy project awarded to the Council for Geoscience as a project urgent, to analyze and interpret the data collected through the geophysics instrumentation and compile the report on abandoned mineshaft in Witwatersrand basin. I was the Assistant Project Manager tasked to manage the collection of data, analyses of the data and compilation of report with recommendation to the stakeholders. The project was successfully completed.

Daniel Manama Mokhohlane: Curriculum Vitae Daniel Manama Mokhohlane: Curriculum Vitae  Limpopo Landslide Mapping (March 2008 to September 2008): My role in this project was Assistant Project Leader, responsible of manging mapping of landslide in Limpopo using Google-Earth software, went to the site to confirm landslide mapped and gave scientific advice concerning landslide to the Project Leader and the project stakeholders.  De Hoop Dam Core Logging (June 2008 to August 2008): As a Junior Project Manager in this project my responsibility was to assist in managing the preparation log sheet using DOT plot software, analyse results and compile geotechnical report based on the analysis results for the Project Manager and the project stakeholders.  Township Application Review on non-dolomite areas (February 2008 to July 2008): I worked in this project as a Trainee Project Manager. I reviewed the township application forms and gave comments on the viability of the area for township development. I geo-referenced the areas geotechnically investigated and plot area coordinates on GIS and topography map. I gave advice to the stakeholders.
