Personal statement
Having studied for a bachelor's degree in computer science at Birmingham City University, I am now
trying to find challenging and exciting work in the software engineering field. I've had experience at
programming marathons through the university, as well as various personal projects that stemmed
from university assignment work.
I have a good work ethic and enjoy working and being challenged. Dealing and interacting with
customers in a retail environment is something I excel at, and was one of my favourite parts of my
previous job. I like to think I'm good at balancing work and play, as I have a number of hobbies and I
feel that some of them even help improve my life skills.

Hobbies & Interests
My main hobbies include gaming, playing guitar and walking. I acted as the president of the
Birmingham City University Fighting Game Society, and this position meant I had to welcome and
guide new members, organise events like trips to arcades and training sessions outside of the
university as well as set an example by participating positively in the community. Playing fighting
games allows me to exercise my competitive streak as well as have fun with friends. I have also been
playing guitar for almost 4 years, as it gives me a creative outlet and another activity to put time in to
in order to improve.
