Senior Telecomms Engineer (CRE/PE)
Currently working for Atkins Transportation based in their Plymouth office on a variety of
telcomms projects acting as CRE and PE on Ops Comms, IP and SISS projects. I am the
telecomms CRE for Old Oak Common Depot ELIXS Design, Clacton Resignalling, South
Wales Immunisation GRIP 3 validation, Chesterton Station SISS/Ops Comms Renewals,
Salmon Pool-Umberleigh-Paigtnon-Eggesford Level Crossing Renewals. I have also been
working on Ops Comms designs for Crossrail East looking after the migration of Operational
circuits onto FTN infrastructure. I have been CRE for numerous small SISS renewals projects
and have also produced the telecomms input for numerous bids in the last 12 months.

Project Engineer Telecomms CRE
I am currently working for Siemens based in Chippenham on a rolling 3 month contract acting
as the resident telecoms CRE for RORI Berks and Hants Signalling Renewals which involves
FTN uplift and design, new copper and fibre lineside cabling, Hipath design for TVSC, LDT Link
design, installation and testing. I am also involved in the development of the Chester to
Llanduddno Grip stage 4 telecomms design. The role at Chippenham is titled as Works Package
Manager which also involves management of the delivery of the telecoms element including
management of subcontractors, their programmes, costs and forecasting of current and future
requirements.
Network Rail Swindon May 2008 – May 2014
Project Engineer (SP & C) telecomms.
Since relocating to Plymouth in 2008 I acted as Designated Project Engineer/Project Engineer
for several telecomms projects on the Southern and Western region. This involved close liaison
with Principal contractors, subcontractors and maintainers to ensure the delivery of projects. My
role involved the review and approval/rejection of designs, staff competencies, project
programmes and costs and ultimately the implementation and delivery of multi discipline
projects. As DPEI was also responsible for the appointment of Subcontractor and other Network
Rail project Engineers (E & P, Civils, Signalling. PICOT) as required for each of my projects.
Projects I was DPE for included SWT SISS (cctv, CIS & PA), Paddington PAVA, Port Talbot
concentrator (HiPath), Bristol concentrator (STS Concept 32, 400 line concentrator with 8
Signaller positions, replacement of all lineside SPT’s, PZT’s and crossings), FGW Station
Information and Security Systems project for 13 high Speed Stations (Plymouth, Totnes, Newton
Abbot, Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton, Bristol TM and Parkway, Bath Spa, Chippenham, Swindon,
Didcot and Pewsey), 100808 CCTV project for 28 stations (Nice NVR/DVR’s, Bosch Cameras).
Stakeholder Management was a key element of these SISS projects as there are several
interested parties i.e. English Heritage, Local Authorities, British Transport Police, ORR and

Manager, Sponsor and Programme Manager during this process to manage their expectations.

Senior Project Engineer - Fixed Networks
From March 2003 I was involved in the Design, Implementation and final commissioning of Fixed
Telecomms. Network projects which involved the production of the ground up design from a
clients initial invitation to tender and scope of works through to the completion, testing and
commissioning and bringing into service of various projects. I was also involved in bid work to
produce the price and technical Specification for these projects. These projects included :

As part of the TADS Team working from home I was responsible for conducting a survey of
available transmission capacity and usage of the SDH/PDH network along the entire South
Coast from Cornwall to Dover and the London area. My duties included surveying which cards
were present in each system which channels were in use and how the higher order muxes were
connected .

Working within the Managed Data Services section of Global Crossing at Basingstoke I was
responsible for controlling the movements and workload of a team of approximately 15 Field
Engineers. I was also responsible for configuring and faulting new installations of Cisco routers,
ATM switches and Frame Relay switches. I also liaised with Global Crossing NMC to resolve
and configure SDH transmission faults and new connections. During this period I studied for and
successfully became a Cisco Certified Network Associate.
