CORPORATE MANAGEMENT
A self-motivated, energetic, and people-oriented manager with a solid experience in project development
and project management, initiating and reorganizing corporate departments, managing high performance
teams, manufacturing execution systems, inventory control, logistics, and process engineering. A
certified “Black Belt” in Six Sigma statistical process control. I have solid interpersonal skills, and am
fully committed to executing and obtaining results through teamwork.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
GRUPO MERLET ( San Salvador, El Salvador )
Director of Operations
July 2013 to Present
Manage and coordinate all areas under the responsibility of the Director of Operations, these include:
warehouse, cutting, screen printing, sewing, packaging, shipping, industrial engineering, mechanics,
quality, continuous improvement, inventory control and logistics. In total, I manage over 125 people.
Transform the current manufacturing and organizational structure of the operations area, in order to
modernize it, increase productivity, make it more competitive and cost efficient, and to be aligned with
customer and market demands. This includes, evaluaton and redesign of all productive processes,
equipment, procedures, and organizational structures.
Areas of Responsibility
• Responsible for planning and execution of all productive processes in order to achieve
the monthly billing goal.
• Responsible for the supply chain department, in order to make sure all materials and
production processes are on-time and aligned with manufacturing planning and goals.
• Responsible for the Continuous Improvement department, in order to improve, redesign
and optimize processes in order to generate savings and increase productivity.
• Responsible for determining production capacities for all productive processes in order
for the customer service department to know how much they can sell and deliver on time.
Special Achievements:
• When I arrived at Merlet, the company had a 1 ½ years of delays in deliveries for clients.
Without amy induction process, I managed to get the company back on track in only 3
months.
• Production capacity tripled in 6 months.
• Designed a complete “vertical integration” planning system, in order to be able to plan
production, and inform our clients of the status of their orders.
• Re-organized the entire operations areas in order for information to flow better, be more
efficient and productive, and respond better to customer needs.
• Created the Continuous Improvement Department, generating savings of over $1,200,000
in only four projects.
• Created a “Logistics Center” in order to consolidate all materials before sewing. This
project converted our previous production floors into lean manufacturing floors.
Production and quality control greatly improved.
• Re-designed the complete industrial engineering department.
• Created the Inventory Control and Logistics department.
LEMPA SERVICES LTD. ( Fruit of the Loom - El Salvador ) San Salvador, El Salvador
Inventory Control, Logistics, and Manufacturing Execution Systems Manager
January 2006 to June 2013
Reorganize, redesign and manage the inventory control and logistics department. Analyze and develop
new standard operating procedures to ensure proper tracking of inventory. Reengineer the department by
reviewing job descriptions, role assignment. Develop a department performance system, analyze all
processes and identify Key Process Indicators, defining operative goals, define metrics to measure and
set up measurement systems to track goal adherence, and also implement corrective action plans
whenever required.
Areas of Responsibility:
 Attain inventory accuracy of +/- 1% systems versus physical for an annual budget in
sewing supplies and fabric of approximately US$ 45 million.
 Responsible for tracking the following processes: receiving, storing and assigning of
sewing supplies and fabric for all six plants in the country.
 Responsible for the monitoring and supervision of 4 different systems to track and control
of all inventory being produced and shipped out of each manufacturing facility. This
includes verifying styles, costs, packing lists and other related documents.
 Responsible for deployment and implementation of a new system that will integrate
all current systems into one, and thus automate all processes from receiving through
shipping. Corporate project for all manufacturing facilities.
 Responsible for monitoring the production variances for all sewing supplies and fabric in
relation to each style being produced. This means, controlling the correct use of each
sewing supply and fabric according to the technical specifications of each style.
 Implement the strategy to install the Management Execution System software in all
manufacturing facilities. This is a system that allows a precise tracking of the inventory,
also serves as a planning and tracking tool, which allows us to know what we have, and
where we have it.
 Responsible for reviewing all fiscal inventories of each plant, and presenting them to
customs.
 Responsible for coordinating with customs the inspection and destruction of obsolete
and/or defective materials for each manufacturing facility.
 Responsible for coordinating and executing month-end inventories at each facility, and
provide financial data for closing periods at corporate office.
 Responsible for coordinating and executing the annual physical inventory for all facilities
in the country.
LEMPA SERVICES LTD. ( Fruit Of the Loom – El Salvador ) San Salvador, El Salvador
Process Engineering Manager
January 2001 to February 2003
Design and implement the Process Engineering Department in El Salvador. As a manager, this has been
the most challenging and rewarding job. The challenge was transmitting a completely new philosophy of
continuous process improvement for people to do their work. It was very difficult because people felt we
were trying to find what they were doing wrong, instead of realizing that our objective was to get them
involved in looking for ways to make their processes more stable, predictable and efficient.
 Obtained a certification as a “Black Belt” in Six Sigma.
 Design and implementation of the Process Engineering Department.
 Design and implementation of a training plan so that this 5-step process improvement
methodology reached all levels of the company.
 Implement the methodology to determine KPI’s for all processes in the company.
 Consolidate high performance, multi-disciplinary teams to deploy successful process
improvements throughout all manufacturing facilities.
 Redesigned and improved many processes which resulted in important savings for the
company.
ADDITIONAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY IN SALES
 Completing the process of reviving an “idle” company, and redirecting it to adapt to the new
sales operation.
 From start to completion, the set up, planning, and execution of the sales project only took 9
months. In a company like Fruit of the Loom this is record time.
 Utilizing a process engineering approach to analyze our customers in order to design an
efficient and expedite service plan. In the case of supermarkets, we reduced our delivery time
from 6 hours to 2 hours.
 Devised the strategy to start operations in the rest of Central America.
ADDITIONAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY IN SPECIAL PROJECTS
 Negotiated better energy consumption tariffs and obtained a 6% overall discount which
resulted in a savings of US $100,000 per year.
 Fixed prices for six months with vendors of key manufacturing supplies. This resulted in
considerable savings for the company.
 Identified governmental incentive opportunities for the company, and obtained incentives in
the amount of US $ 300,000.
 Responsible for all company – government relations. In charge of establishing a working
agenda of diverse topics with different government offices that impact the core business
aspects of the company.
 Responsible for the implementation process of an “in-house” developed system designed to
automate all processes associated with the manufacturing operation of the company. In
charge of the overall planning and execution of the training process for all personnel
involved.
 Responsible for the implementation of an “in-house” developed system designed to automate
several activities performed by “direct” production personnel, in order to reduce “non-value”
adding activities. In charge of the overall planning and execution of the training process for
all personnel involved.
