Summary of Architectural Career
Mr Randi Fox is a senior architect with a wide range of experiences on diverse
building types. He brings a strong modern design focus to his passion for
sustainable, new-urbanist architecture. Project experience ranges from $50 million
institutional projects to $50 per sq ft affordable housing prototypes. Within this
range he has worked on civic libraries, performance theatres, aquatic & recreation
centres, university faculty buildings, university residences, high-rise residential &
commercial, low rise condo, live-work loft & mixed-use, hotel, and custom houses.
Urban planning experience includes work on the Yaletown and International Village
redevelopments in Vancouver, the Shoreline Master Program in Washington, and
Eichler heritage in Marin Co California. Complex projects on difficult sites have
been created, successfully negotiating civic, state, provincial & federal agencies.
Sustainable Design means more than appropriate materials. A truly sustainable
building has to succeed for everyone. It needs to reward the owner, give to the
community, activate its streetscape, benefit the people who use it through quality
of environment, and provide all this while minimizing material and energy
consumption. To this end, Randi has had
long involvement with Green Building and
Social Justice groups such as US Green
Building Council; ADPSR, Architect,
Planners and Designers for Social
responsibility; and the NW Eco Building
Guild.
Randi has lived, worked and studied architecture in Montreal, Winnipeg,
Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco, and currently resides in Kelowna.
