1. WORK EXPERIENCE
GRAPHIC DESIGN CONSULTANT WITHIN THE AREA OF SOCIAL
CHANGE AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
2010 - current, Maputo, Mozambique
Bringing my passion for creating clear, simple and accessible information designs
to leading international and multilateral organizations, I have collaborated with them
in developing their design strategies. My approach includes working with clients to
help them define their project vision and strategy, as well as advising on the needs
and capabilities of their current assets. In doing so, I gladly interact with whichever
organizational managers, staff or team members are relevant to getting the project
done. I also am able to liaise directly with suppliers and vendors, relieving the
organization of that burden.
In providing design services for leading organizations that serve some of the world's
most marginalized people, I have sharpened my skills in adapting my graphic design
and data visualization to the publication's audience, no matter their education level or
life circumstance. I particularly embrace the challenge of communicating complex,
abstract concepts through clear, simple design.
Having worked as a freelance design consultant for the past seven years, I have
learned to be rigorous with my time-management and maintaining deadlines. I work
closely with organizations to conceptualize, plan and execute designs from start to
finish in a way that advances their organizational mission.
I design visibility materials, reports, booklets, branding material, presentations, logos,
info graphics, posters, flyers, exhibition, conference and venue design.
Some of my clients are: UN, WHO, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, UNESCO, UNEP, FAO,
I-TECH, ICDP, PSI Zimbabwe, Transparency International HQ, British Council, Clinton
Foundation Health Access Initiative, Nordic Embassies in Mozambique, Swiss
Embassy in Mozambique, Swiss Development Cooperation, American Centres for
Disease Control, Government of Mozambique, Belgian Development Cooperation,
University of California.
• Long term agreements with Clinton Health Access Foundation (LTA 2016 -
ongoing), Transparency International HQ (LTA 2012 - ongoing) and UNICEF (LTA
2012 - in the process of being renewed),
• 12 Annual reports for UN Agencies in Mozambique including UNESCO (2), WFP
(3), FAO (3), UNICEF (1) and UN (3).
• Worked with Transparency International on the infographics of the highly anticipated
Global Corruption Index in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Viewed by key decision makers,
journalists and analysts worldwide.

• Created a brand identity for the joint collaboration of the Nordic Countries in
Mozambique (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) The brand identity,
developed in 2012, was the start of a continuing close collaboration with the 5
countries and led me to designing: 3 international conferences -- attended by a total
of 2000 people, design of the Nordic countries' area at the Maputo international
trade fair for three consecutive years with a total of 300.000 visitors. The stand,
called “Nordic Area,” won an award for best design in 2013. The branding also led
to designing and organizing of 2 Nordic Day celebrations in 2015 and 2016 with 500
guests each.
• In order to build a common brand identity for 5 countries, I listened carefully to
the client brief, identified the target audience, did my research and brought a lot of
options to the table. I then took out everything that should not be there.
• Designed UNICEF Mozambique desk calendar for 3 consecutive years which is the
office most disseminated visibility material with a print run of 10,000 copies each
year.

Graça Machel as a gift to Kofi Annan and the Elders.
• The branding done for UNESCO Mozambique and the Annual Report 2014 was
marked as “best practice” by UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and is included in
their Global UNESCO Identity Manual.
• Designed a publication on Infant HIV for UNICEF that instantly lead to 4 new clients:
CDC, I-TECH, PSI and Clinton Health Access Foundation (that further developed
into an LTA)
• With I-TECH, designed the Government of Mozambique's national HIV medication
guide for doctors. Its pocket book format and easy intuitive structure has made it
one of the most sought after medical guides in the country.
• Number of signed consultancy contracts by ten top clients (kindly note that each
consultancy may have from 1 up to 10 deliverables):

DESIGN TEACHER
2004 - 2005 Harare Polytechnic College, Zimbabwe
Held courses in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Taught design in the department for
fine arts and print. This included developing lesson plans, grading assignments, and
offering mentoring to the students.
Taught 150 students at three different levels advance use of Photoshop and Illustrator
as well as gave classes in design and print. Many of the students have gone on to
become professional designers and I am still in contact with a dozen of them.
Teaching helped me become a more mature designer because I learned to look at
the bigger picture, rather than focusing on small details. By taking some distance, it
becomes easier to see if the design is good enough to keep working on and invest
more time in. Rather than tweaking small things in the layout or design in hope of
finding something that works, I am now not afraid to throw everything in the bin and
start over. It is a tremendous time saver.
