Personal Statement
As a determined and self-motivated worker, education has enriched my knowledge and social skills.
I am interested in archaeology as it balances humanities and science, providing chanced for research and
critical analysis. My dissertation focused on prehistory, as it emphasises the importance of archaeology,
and allowed me to carry out individual research, into the impacts of climate change on migration and
behaviour of mammoths and elephants. My degree has allowed me to develop key skills required for a
career in archaeological science and transferable across disciplines.

Professional Experience
Undergraduate Course Representative September2013- July 2016
For 3 years,I was the liaison for my year where I attended termly meetings with academic staff to discuss
arising matters and possible solutions with staff members, during my final year I headed meetings.
The responsibility not only improved my organisational and communicational skills, but brought greater
awareness to the complicated process of successfully running a course and the need for compromise.
The importance of student-staff relations was also present throughout education where I was a class
representative in secondary school for numerous years.
Archaeological Traineeship August 2015
For nine days I surveyed a Neolithic Cambered tomb in Islay with the University of Reading and
Bournemouth University, where I completed a vegetation survey, test pits, and environmental sampling
and processing. This experience was very valuable as it broadened my understanding of the
pre-excavation process and increased confidence as I was entrusted independent tasks and management.
Archaeological Field and Environmental Placement June- August 2015
The University of Reading Field School partially excavated the largest Bronze Age Henge in the British
Isles, located in the Vale of Pewsey. I taught and supervised students in areas of field excavation and
environmental science. I led numerous tours in the Environmental Science placement, two of which to a
group of 25 English Heritage members. On open days I gave talks on the role of environmental science in
the corresponding project and the discipline, I was also entrusted to manage the environmental science
department on the final open day.
2. Archaeological experience August 2014
I attended an excavation of the Silchester, the largest Roman Town in the British Isles, which was run by
Reading University Field School. I gained experience in all aspects of commercial archaeology, including
fieldwork, finds, environmental science, and public relations. The excavations have developed many skills
such as teamwork, management, meticulousness, and adaptability to environmental fluctuations.
Volunteer with the Museum ofLondon August 2012
The first week with London Archaeology Archive and Research Centre was at the historical Tudor Syon
House, tasks involved excavating, recording and washing finds, and helping facilitate groups. The second
week was post-excavation focused, where I re-ordered, re-packaged, and documented artefacts manually
and through a database.
