Personal Statement
Through my ability to bridge the technical and non-technical worlds I have created strong customer
relationships, whilst delivering highly complex technical solutions. My experience across the project lifecycle,
from developer to project manager makesme a highly flexible resource able to work across industries and
technologies, with key skill and experience in troubleshooting projects, web and desktop GIS integration and
hybrid architectures.

February 2011 – Current
Employer: Esri (UK) –Technical Leader / Senior Consultant
As part of the Professional Services team I have delivered solutions and projects
across each of the industries served by GIS including: - Oil & Gas, Local and Central
Government, Commercial and Public and National Safety.
This includes projects where I was the sole consultant (design, develop, deliver) to
£5m projects as the solution architect.
Some highlights include:
Forester Web – Forestry Commission
As Solution Architect, I have been responsible for the design and technical
governance of a 5 year program to migrate their enterprise GIS based operational
and strategic management system from desktop based technology to a web based
solution. This includes managing a remote development team based in Russia.
GIS Platform and Hydrant Management - Scottish Fire & Rescue Service
As Solution Architect I was responsible for design and delivery of two key projects to
deliver an esri GIS platform for the newly merged national fire service. This platform
was delivered in just 3 months to meet the needs of the commonwealth games, but
has become the corporate GIS platform using a hybrid cloud on premise solution.
This has allowed the service to start a creating corporate data store and start
integrating GIS into other corporate systems.
The second project delivered a highly flexible and configurable hydrant inspection
and management system by combining off the shelf esri products including ArcGIS
Collector, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS web app builder and a small amount of custom
widget development.
Emergency Planning Portal & Integrated GIS – Cairn Energy
In a mixed role as architect and lead developer I was responsible for design and
delivery of Cairns award winning GIS platform. Using a hybrid cloud on premise
solution to provide Logistics, Health and Safety and Emergency Planning
applications portals for use in their oil exploration.
In addition I developed an embeddable widget to add GIS intelligence and maps into
existing corporate systems including their new ventures and well head management
systems.

As part of a 2 person team I have was responsible for delivering the GIS solutions that have given Dundee City Council
the reputation as one of the most advanced and integrated GIS implementations in Scottish Local government, on one
of the smallest budgets. This included supporting over 100 ArcGIS Desktop Users, training and user groups. In addition
I delivered web based GIS to more than 2000 users and embedded GIS tools and functionality across the Council
Website and CMS and the Council's CRM.
