This document presents a case report of a 42-year-old man who developed a solitary primary hydatid cyst in his right buttock. Imaging including ultrasound, MRI, and CT scan revealed a subcutaneous multilobed cystic mass in the buttock without involvement of other organs. The patient underwent successful surgical excision of the cyst. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of hydatidosis. Post-operatively, the patient received albendazole treatment and showed no signs of recurrence after one year of follow-up. The report discusses that primary subcutaneous hydatid cyst is rare, with the liver and lungs being more common sites of infection. It presents this unusual case of a solitary cyst in the but
1) A 17-year-old girl presented with chronic epigastric pain and was found to have a large trichobezoar in her stomach.
2) During surgery to remove the bezoar, the doctors also found extensive pneumatosis intestinalis (intramural gas within the bowel walls) in her small intestine.
3) This case presents a rare association between trichobezoar and pneumatosis intestinalis that has not been previously reported. As the pneumatosis was not causing symptoms, no treatment was needed for it.
Analytical Study of Urine Samples for Epidemiology of Urinary Tract Infection...iosrphr_editor
The current study was carried out in District Abbottabad aimed to determine the common urinary
tract infections in local community to determine the epidemiology of significant diseases in asymptomatic patients
of renal disorder. In this study a total of 1000 urine samples were examined during 3rd February to 1st April 2015
from patients attending Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad by using dipstick and microscopic analysis of urine.
There were 638 females and 362 males patients examined during this period. The range of age groups is between
1.5 years to 80 years. Results of this study was reported as Pyuria 11%, Proteinuria 21.1%, Hematuria 10.4%,
Epithelial Cells 8.2%, pH 7.8 %, Granular casts 7.3%, Triple phosphate 6.6%, Calcium oxalate 6.4%, Glycosuria
6.3%, Bacteria 6.2% and mucous 4.1%. This study concludes that routing urinalysis should be performed for all
individuals to diagnose the asymptomatic diseases that will help in simple therapeutic measurements as urinalysis
is a simple step to determine the root of Urinary tract disorders.
This case report describes a 43-year-old man who presented with a painful right scrotal swelling and fever that had been evolving over a year. Ultrasound revealed a poorly limited scrotal swelling with thick echogenic content and swelling of the right spermatic cord. Surgical exploration showed a hydrocele with fibrous tissue involving the right testicle. Biopsies were positive for tuberculosis. The patient was treated with anti-tuberculosis drugs and surgery for the hydrocele. His condition improved with medical treatment, demonstrating that tuberculous orchi-epididymitis can initially present as a painful hydrocele.
A 76-year-old male presented with fever, weight loss, and abdominal swelling for three months. Imaging studies revealed a large cystic mass arising from the lower pole of the right kidney measuring 9.84x9.70cm. Aspiration of the cyst yielded purulent pus that tested positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis via PCR and Ziehl-Neelsen staining. The patient responded well to anti-tuberculosis treatment and follow-up scans showed significant reduction in the size of the residual cystic cavity. This case report presents a rare manifestation of primary renal tuberculosis presenting as a giant cyst of the lower kidney pole.

This case report describes an unusual method for removing a plastic bead that had been aspirated into the tracheobronchial tree of a 9-year-old boy. Conventional bronchoscopic techniques using forceps were unsuccessful at removing the bead, which was located in the left lower lobar bronchus. A Fogarty embolectomy catheter was inserted through the bead's central hole and its balloon was inflated to grasp the bead. The catheter and bead were then removed together through the rigid bronchoscope, successfully retrieving the foreign body without requiring surgery. This creative use of a Fogarty catheter demonstrates how available tools can be adapted based on the shape and location of an aspirated foreign body.

This study analyzed 747 cases of malignant pleural mesothelioma diagnosed between 1996-2003 at hospitals in Egypt. Most patients were males between 40-60 years old living in industrial areas. The main presenting symptoms were dyspnea and chest pain. Asbestos exposure was identified as the primary risk factor. Diagnosis was typically made via biopsy and patients had poor prognosis, surviving on average 12 months after diagnosis. The study concluded that mesothelioma is increasing in Egypt likely due to asbestos exposure and recommended preventative measures to reduce asbestos pollution.
The document discusses the history and various methods of teaching anatomy. It describes how anatomy teaching has evolved from early dissections of human cadavers to current methods that incorporate computer-based imaging and problem-based learning. There is debate around the effectiveness of newer teaching methods, as some feel they have led to a decline in doctors' anatomical knowledge, while others believe integrated methods provide a good balance of traditional dissection and modern technologies. The document reviews the pros and cons of different anatomy teaching approaches.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the axial skeleton and sacroiliac joints. It has been described since ancient Egyptian times but was first characterized in the medical literature in the 16th century. Key points about AS include that it is strongly associated with the HLA-B27 gene, often presents in individuals between 15-40 years of age, and causes inflammation and new bone formation that can result in fusion of the vertebrae and loss of spinal mobility. Common clinical features involve chronic back pain and stiffness that typically worsens with rest and improves with movement. Diagnosis involves assessment of spinal mobility and signs of inflammation in the sacroiliac joints and entheses. There

Islamic medicine 1000 years ahead of its times [from www.metacafe.com]Abdrabu Abdallah
Within a century after the death of Prophet Muhammad, Islamic medicine had advanced significantly, establishing hospitals with separate wards, licensing physicians, and advancing practices in various medical fields like surgery and ophthalmology. By the 9th century, the hospital in Baghdad incorporated innovations like treating patients with music and allowing free care, setting standards for modern hospitals. Islamic medicine made major advances in medical education, establishing teaching hospitals and licensing physicians through examinations over 1000 years before similar systems developed in Europe.
The document discusses the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) which provides guidelines for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It outlines the GOLD board of directors and science committee for 2017. It also discusses the objectives, levels of evidence, and chapters contained in the 2017 GOLD report, including definition and overview, diagnosis and initial assessment, management of stable COPD, management of exacerbations, and COPD and comorbidities.
