This thesis developed an application to map soil erosion hot spots in the Upper Runde sub-Catchment (URSC) in Zimbabwe. The author quantified soil loss estimates for the URSC from 1984 to 2015 using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) and remote sensing data. Land use/cover changes were analyzed from 1984 to 2015 to determine crop factor values. Digital elevation data was used to calculate the topographic factor. The soil loss estimates were classified and mapped to identify erosion hot spots. An application was then created to automate the soil loss quantification process and map erosion risk areas to support conservation efforts.

This document discusses techniques for pedal and metatarsal artery access for endovascular revascularization procedures. It describes when retrograde pedal access may be used as a "rescue solution", such as after failed antegrade recanalization attempts. The document provides details on how to perform pedal and digital artery puncture and wiring, and combines antegrade and retrograde techniques for successful revascularization in diabetics with critical limb ischemia. It presents case examples and concludes that considering retrograde pedal approaches as a rescue procedure, when anatomical conditions allow, can improve success rates in treating critical limb ischemia.

Endovascular revascularization is generally a cost-effective treatment for critical limb ischemia. Studies show that angioplasty has a lower cost than bypass surgery but provides similar effectiveness in terms of amputation prevention and quality-adjusted life years gained over a 3 year period. For patients with intermittent claudication, adding endovascular or surgical revascularization to a background of optimal medical treatment including exercise can improve walking ability and quality of life compared to exercise alone. Overall, endovascular techniques tend to be more cost-effective than open surgery for peripheral artery disease, but further reductions in reintervention rates could help increase cost-effectiveness. Disease prevention provides the most cost-effective approach.
The document discusses combining hemodynamic strategies like the CHIVA method with ablation techniques to treat chronic venous insufficiency. Radiofrequency ablation was used to close the sapheno-femoral junction escape point as part of the CHIVA method in 34 patients. Short-term results showed the escape point was closed in 100% of patients with no complications. At medium-term follow up of 1-38 months, the proximal saphenous vein was treated in 100% of patients and recurrence occurred in 3% at the escape point and 14% in tributary veins. The conclusion is that CHIVA is an effective hemodynamic strategy that can be applied using different techniques like radiofrequency ablation, which provides efficacy, safety and less

There are two main categories of welding processes - fusion welding and solid state welding. Fusion welding involves melting the base metals using heat, sometimes with added filler metal. Common fusion processes are arc welding, resistance welding, and oxyfuel gas welding. Solid state welding joins metals without melting using pressure, heat, or both. Examples are forge welding and friction welding. The document then provides detailed descriptions and comparisons of various fusion welding techniques such as shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, plasma arc welding, and resistance spot welding.

PROFILE
I am a keen, flexible and dependable person. I work well under pressure and have a
calm and pragmatic approach to demanding situations. I am a solution based
problem solver who believes there is always another option to try. Once I left school I
had a career in the army as a tank crewman and spent much time living abroad. After
leaving the army I found work in various places to provide an income while I
retrained. These jobs included being a building site labourer and volunteer youth
work. After retraining I went into the field of education as an integration assistant. I
have been working in the education system now for twenty years and worked as the
manager of a learning support unit overseeing a team of ten or so teaching
assistants and as such believe I work well as part of a team.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
• Writing a number of published articles in a national distributed magazine that
were read by Lord Buckmaster-Brown. This prompted him to write to the
school with a letter of commendation for the school and myself.
• Being asked to give a public talk at the national LARP awards regarding live
role play in education.
• Starting, running and developing several afterschool enrichment activities that
have been established now for nine years.
• The set up and development of a new department in a freshly established
academy.
• The delivery of behaviour training to several groups of newly qualified
teachers.
• The development of a number of STEM clubs at school which have had
success at a national level. Including the set-up, development and
coordination of the schools Jaguar 4x4, F1 in schools and F1 in primary
schools.
• Accompanying a group of students with disabilities who represented Britain at
the Court of Human Rights in Brussels.
• Coming second in a national snap shooting competition at the age of sixteen
EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
Title Held, Name of Company Dates of employment
Time Out Room Manager Sidney Stringer Academy 2013 - current
I am responsible for the co-ordination and running of a number of behaviour related
support systems in a large multi-cultural school in the centre of Coventry city. The
school currently has a populous of thirteen hundred students with forty odd
languages spoken and thus I need to be sensitive to the needs of many different
cultures and national groups. During my day to day duties I have to display
2. exceptional communication skills to deal with students whom are displaying
challenging behaviour. This I completed alongside a time table of co teaching
engineering with a fellow college. As part of my day to day responsibilities I have to
keep records regarding the students accessing the time out room. Once a month I
then have to statistically analyse that data to inform the senior staff of the school
regarding behaviour trends within the school populous. Support can then be put in
place in those areas. Thus I am used in a strategic over view of the behaviour in the
school and how to accommodate changes. This means flexibility, patience and a
level head are key.
Title Held, Name of Company Dates of employment
Head of Internal Exclusion Sidney Stringer Academy 2010-2013
After Sidney Stringer School became Sidney Stringer Academy I took on the
responsibility of the set up and development of an internal exclusion room. Sidney
Stringer had never had this provision before and so I was required to do this from the
ground up. This involved the writing and development of various systems for the
school to use to support staff who are dealing with challenging students.
Title Held, Name of Company Dates of employment
Behaviour Manager Sidney Stringer School 2005-2010
As the behaviour manager at Sidney Stringer School it was my responsibility to line
manage a team of teaching assistants and provide a curriculum for students to
access during their stay in the learning support area. During my role I, on many
occasions, had to deal with very stressed and upset parents as well as students who
were in crisis. I developed many managerial skills during this time which afforded me
the experience needed to have difficult conversations with a number of persons in
authority. I also had to deal with child protection issues on numerous occasions. The
ability to keep calm during these events is crucial.
Title Held, Name of Company Dates of employment
Deputy Head of Year Queensbridge School 2003-2005
During my post as a Deputy Year Head I had the shared responsibility for the care of
a body of one hundred and fifty students. This included pastoral care for students
who needed help in a social/emotional sense as well as the day-to-day issues
present with a large group of teenagers. Meeting with parents and senior staff were a
daily occurrence. I also provided many extra curricula activities for students including
the organization and delivery of a course of horse riding lessons.
Title Held, Name of Company Dates of employment
Learning Mentor Queensbridge school 1998-2003
As a learning mentor it was my duty to deliver a social skills package to selected
students who, for whatever reason, were failing in education. With the brief to remove
barriers to learning I frequently negotiated and mediated between students and
members of staff regarding classroom behaviour and general social skills.

INTERESTS
I have many interests outside of work. I enjoy computer game play and have been an
avid gamer since I was a child. I enjoy live action role play which is in essence
medieval re-enactment and attend regular weekend events. I enjoy driving and have
a Caterham which I work on and would one day like to race. I have been a horse
rider from a very early age and until very recently owned a horse of my own. I enjoy
spending time with my family and have two children, a twelve years old boy called
Barnaby and an eleven year old daughter called Saffron. I enjoy model making, from
scale models of various vehicles to painting and playing table top war games and
board games such as Warhammer 40k, Battle Fleet Gothic, Settlers of Catan plus
many others. I enjoy reading currently im reading a book explaining the expansion of
the Mongol nation under the guidance of Kublai Khan a descendant of Genghis Khan
and love science and space documentaries. And although I am dyslexic I enjoy
writing and currently I am writing a book for my enjoyment not for publishing.
