    Getting Started
STEP # 1-CHOOSE A PIC
  Find a picture of an
athlete in action

  You don’t have to do
the entire picture, you
can crop the image
STEP #2-DRAW THE ATHLETE
  Begin to draw the
image on a 12” x 18”
piece of newsprint.

  Draw the large areas
of the image, don’t
worry about small
details right now.

STEP #3- CHOOSE BACKGROUND
  Choose a background
color.

  Either the color that is
seen the most or a color
you think will look good

   The background paper
is the same size as the
newsprint

  Get construction paper
of the colors you think
you will need.

  If it’s a small part of the
image, look for some
scrap paper to use.
Otherwise get new
pieces
STEP #5-CUT OUT AND TRACE
  Cut out parts of the
drawing that will be the
same color in the
picture.

  Use this as a stencil
and trace it out of the
color you want.

   Flip your drawing over
before you trace it. That
way the side you want to
show wont have pencil
lines showing.

  Think about putting the
stencil at the edge of the
paper when you trace.

than put it together
