Empowering Customer Success Managers as Adoption CoachesAmity
One of the most critical functions that Customer Success Managers perform is proactively driving user adoption within your customers' organizations. But how do you do this rapidly, effectively and at scale?
The answer is to develop and empower your CSMs to be Adoption Coaches. Adoption Coaches don't tell their customers how to run their business, but they guide and help them through adoption to achieve and maintain the full value of your system over the years.
What Does It Really Mean To Build A Customer Culture?Totango
Whether you call it customer centricity, customer obsession, or customer focused, putting the customer at the center of your company is the right business approach. In order to be customer centric, however, your organization must operate within a strong, pervasive customer culture that supports the business approach.
But what exactly is a customer culture and how do you build it? Review our webinar slides presented by two industry thought leaders, Claire Burge, CEO of This Is Productivity, and Omer Gotlieb, Co-founder of Totango, to learn:
- The specific cultural changes required to truly embrace customer-centricity
- The processes and systems required for customer-centric culture
- The mind-shifts individual team players need to make toward customer-centricity
For recurring revenue businesses, your business success is directly tied to your customer's success. Make sure you catch the on-demand webinar to build the right customer culture for your company.
In this e-book, you'll find tips for hiring the right people into your customer success organization, including the traits your customer success managers should have, interview questions to help you test for those traits, and a sample job posting.
Customer Success Management is all about pro-actively making sure your customers get value from their relationship with you. You need to do this to reduce your risk of churn and maximize your profits.
But how will you do it? How do you make sure your CSM efforts are successful? And how do you do it in a way that is cost effective?
How to measure your success as a Customer Success ManagerAmity
As CSMs, we can usually rattle off a number of metrics and statistics that we use to measure our customer's health and success -- but it gets a little less standardized when others ask us how we measure our own success. Renewals and churn are both important metrics to keep an eye on, but they're not the only ones.
In this webinar, we’ve partnered with Sparkcentral to discuss:
- The benefits of a top-down approach when re-evaluating CS team goals
- The importance of CSAT metrics
- Which KPIs to measure if Account Management and CS roles are combined
- Which questions to ask yourself when exploring and assessing your team’s current KPIs and goals
Join Krysta Gahagen and Julia Burnett, two Customer Success Managers from Sparkcentral, for the rundown of which KPIs are truly key for CSMs, and why.

This is a Quarterly Business Review Template to be used by Customer Success Management organizations.
One of the most important activities your Customer Success Managers (CSMs) will perform is the Quarterly Business Review (QBR).
QBRs are sometimes known by different names – Business Reviews or Executive Business Reviews – but no matter what they’re called, they’re incredibly important and the agenda and flow are largely going to fall on the CSM, so it’s critical to help them prepare for, and perform QBRs, the right way.

Content Marketing for the Life SciencesChris Conner
Manage your content marketing like a product. Why start from scratch on every campaign? You'll save a lot of effort by creating a collection of content that serves your customers and then adding functionality (new content) on a regular basis.
This SlideShare shows you why it's a good idea and what you need to get started.
It’s time for some tough love: If your content marketing isn’t performing as well as you expected it to, it’s probably not the discipline’s fault — it’s yours. Content marketing works — we’ve seen the success stories from dozens of businesses, large and small. But it’s not a “set-it-and-forget-it” kind of
technique. It takes time, dedication, and a solid plan right from the start. It also takes flexibility and the willingness to continually tweak your formula so that you’re always getting peak performance. If your content marketing program is bringing in leads, engaging prospects and customers, and achieving strong ROI, then this e-book isn’t for you. But if you are running into problems that are keeping you from reaching the success you deserve, it might be time to take out your chemistry kit and make some adjustments to your formula.
Because every troubleshooting expedition can use a map, we’ve gathered some helpful guidance from Neil Patel — founder of KISSmetrics, and one of CMI’s most prolific and experienced contributors. Neil’s words of wisdom can help you overcome the barriers to success and get back on the right path.

9. In a recent discussion on the LinkedIn
Customer Success Forum group, virtually
every respondent stated that Customer
Success should drive the customer
engagement strategy, while marketing
should “own” the execution.
10. Pat Kelly
VP Customer Success, Brainshark
“We have established a Customer
Communication team…It is a partnership
between Customer Success and Customer
Marketing …The marketing part of the
group executes on the email
communications that often are "from"
the CSM assigned to the customer.”
11. Todd Oaks
VP Customer Success, SceneDoc
“Customer Success owns the customer
relationship strategy and is a direct report
to the CEO. Marketing provides input into
the strategy and is responsible for the
execution based upon agreed upon
initiatives and tactics.”
12. Karen Sun
Principal, KS Consulting
“It's important to have one single control
point for the execution of all customer
communications to avoid spamming
customers and to have consistent
messaging. This usually resides in
Marketing.”
15. Duplicate your company’s blog and give it a
light rebrand as a customer blog. Start publishing
posts at a steady cadence – perhaps 2-4 per month.
Encourage customers to subscribe during the
onboarding process.
17. Content is a demand generation marketer’s most
effective instrument for building trust with
prospects. They create eBooks, Infographics and
Presentations that have a light, aspirational tone
and are highly visual.
Customer marketers sometimes fail to engage
their audience because they focus on detailed
feature news and screenshots. Steal a page from
demand generation marketing to keep your
customer content interesting!
19. If you’re starting from scratch, pull together a
monthly email that contains 3 things:
1. Highlight your top product feature releases
2. A customer story discussing how they
effectively use your product
3. Reuse the best performing content piece your
demand generation team
21. “Customer” is not a segment. “Executive in
North America, Pro subscriber for over 90 days,
11-50 employees, actively engages with our
content”. Now that’s a segment!
True, more segments mean more content and
effort – start small and grow your segmentation
strategy as your resources (and customer base)
expand.
23. As your customers move from Trial, to
Onboarding, to their first 90 days of usage and
beyond they should receive content tailored to
their lifecycle stage as they climb the learning
curve. Keep these stages in mind as you grow
your content library.
When you’re ready, deploy the content using a
marketing automation platform like Hubspot or
Marketo so the right content is served to
customers when it is most relevant to them.
25. You’re a master customer marketer! Time to coax
users down the path to success. Monitor how your
customers use of your product. Serve content that
matches new (or existing) features they have not
yet explored in depth. Bonus points if you can
automate this process.
