- Started my career as a Trainee Staff Correspondent with premier business
daily Business Standard in April 2007 in Kolkata.
- Got confirmed as the Staff Correspondent in October 2007 and promoted to
the position of Senior Correspondent in February 2008.

2. - During my 13-month stint in Kolkata, I was responsible for news delivery on
crucial beats like coal, aviation, railways, power, infrastructure, logistics and
ports.
- Filed stories on Coal India, Kolkata and Haldia ports, Exide Industries,
Simplex Infrastructure, zonal railways- South Eastern Railways and Eastern
Railway, Damodar Valley Corporation.
BHUBANESWAR- May 2008 … Till now
- Joined Business Standard’s Bhubaneswar bureau as Senior Correspondent in
May 2008.
- In the first couple of years, I tracked beats like B-schools, tourism, hospitality,
real estate, retail and railways. Also filed stories consistently on Coal India and
contributed regularly to the commodities pages on areas like coking coal and
jute.
- Was promoted to the rank of Principal Correspondent in April 2010 and
thereafter started covering the Secretariat.
- In April 2013, I was elevated to the position of Special Correspondent.
- In my current position, I cover the policy developments emanating from the
state secretariat on vital sectors like mining, energy and steel.
- Besides offering key policy newsbreaks, I keenly track major corporates like
Posco, Vedanta, Tata Steel, Indian Oil, Essar Steel, Rio Tinto, Jindal Steel &
Power Ltd (JSPL), DLF, Paradeep port Dhamra port & Nalco to name a few.
On the commodities side, I contribute full-fledged inputs on coking coal, jute,
iron ore and occasionally on fertilizers.

- Consistently contributed to the corporate pages with exclusive filings on
Nalco, Dhamra port, DLF, Essar, Posco et al.
- Filed ground reports of the first and last gram sabhas held on Niyamgiri
bauxite mining in 2013.
- Filed a story on the reality check of RBI’s financial inclusion programme in
December 2009 that got a front page display.
- Travelled to four Naxal infested districts in Odisha and filed ground reports on
mood of voters ahead of 2014 elections.
- Keenly tracked the course of the Phailin cyclonic storm, filed ball by ball
updates on its progress and did stories on its impact on economy and business

Standard’s Weekend section.
