Immigration is expanding, which has led to the need to improve diversity education in the nursing profession to better meet the needs of our changing society (Gustafson, & Reitmanova, 2010; Online cultural diversity, n.d.).
Individuals are different in so many ways, which challenges the nurse who is not prepared to accept individuals for who they are. The society expects nurses to be are to adequately care for individuals despite race, language, religion, or sexual orientation (Lowe & Archibald, 2009).
