2020 Scouting Year
Knots!
Bowline: The bowline knot
forms a loop that will not slip, but
is still easy to untie. Useful
applications: tying a rope around
your waist or around someone
requiring rescue; securing guy
lines through the grommets on a
tent, tarp or fly.
Interest Topic: 2020 Scouting Year
Journey to Excellence scoring resets January 1, 2020.
The start of the new year is a natural point for your unit to
reassess your calendar and program as scheduled until your
annual pack planning meeting.
Back to the Basics
Our program is unique! No need to reinvent the wheel- Keep It
Simple, Make It Fun! Consider getting back to the basics.
Get outside!
Serve
Your

attend events already planned
by Council. Use Scoutbook to
organize information and
communicate with families.
Follow Leader Guides for every
position.
Journey to Excellence
Abbreviated JTE, this is a set of goals for units to try to achieve each
Scouting year. These goals are based on the full spectrum of programming
and resources offered by the BSA. A unit achieving bronze, silver, or gold
level points is often a unit where youth are learning, having fun, and
becoming better citizens. It is measured on a scorecard.
Full annual calendar planning within the JTE framework is the job of the
Committee and Cubmaster, with Den Leaders and unit families ideally
planning and executing weekly meetings and individual events.
New Committee Chairs and Cubmasters: reach out to other CCs and CMs for
help if needed, or to your COR or UC.
