Amazon Web Services
Amazon Web Services is a collection of remote computing
services, also called web services that together make up a cloud
computing platform in a low cost environment.
Amazon Web Services offers a broad set of global compute,
storage, database, analytics, application, and deployment services
that help organizations move faster, lower IT costs, and scale
applications.
These services are trusted by the largest enterprises and the
hottest start-ups to power a wide variety of workloads including:
web and mobile applications, IoT, data processing and
warehousing, storage, archive, and many others.
CSU University 2015
Sign UP – create an AWS Account for free
 New AWS accounts receive 12 months
of AWS Free Tier access. The AWS
Free Tier is designed to enable you to
get hands-on experience with AWS at
no charge for one year after you sign
up. View AWS Free Tier Details »
 Sign up for an AWS account
by clicking on this link
 Enter your billing address and credit
card information (required to verify
your valid identity - your card will not
be charged unless your usage exceeds
the free usage tiers)
 After we create an account and when
we login into AWS we can access the
AWS Cloud services on its console
page which contains all cloud services
that we can use.
CSU University 2015
AWS EC2 Services
 Amazon EC2 provides a wide selection of
instance types optimized to fit different use
cases. Instance types comprise varying
combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and
networking capacity and give you the flexibility
to choose the appropriate mix of resources for
your applications. Each instance type includes
one or more instance sizes, allowing you to
scale your resources to the requirements of
your target workload.
CSU University 2015
Amazon S3 Bucket
 Amazon easy Storage provider (Amazon S3), offers
developers and IT organizations with comfortable,
durable, primarily-scalable object storage.
 With Amazon S3, you pay just for the storage you
clearly use. There is no minimum expense and no setup
fee.
 Create new buckets
 Upload new objects
 Delete existing buckets and objects
CSU University 2015
AWS Database RDS – Software as a service
 You can use Amazon DynamoDB to create a database
table that can store and retrieve any amount of data,
and serve any level of request traffic. You can scale
up or scale down your tables' throughput capacity
without downtime or performance degradation, and
use the AWS Management Console to monitor
resource utilization and performance metrics.
CSU University 2015
AWS Workspace – Desktop as a Service
 Amazon WorkSpaces is a managed
desktop computing service in the cloud.
Using Amazon WorkSpaces allows you to
easily provision cloud-based desktops
and provide users access to the
documents, applications, and resources
they need from any supported device
including Windows and Mac computers,
Chromebooks.
 with just a few clicks in the AWS
Management Console, you can deploy a
high-quality cloud desktop experience for
any number of users at a cost that is
competitive with traditional desktops.
CSU University 2015
Elastic Breanstalk, AWS Lambda – Platform as a
service
 AWS Lambda
 Run code without thinking about servers.
 Pay for only the compute time you consume.
 With Elastic Beanstalk, all we need to do is
select a platform as per the requirement
from the listed options for our application to
deploy.
 It provides different platforms like Java, PHP,
Python.
CSU University 2015
AWS Billing Management – procurement
management
 To check the billing and cost
management we have to click on
droop down on our account and
we have to select and click on
option Billing and Cost
Management.
 After, we click on Cost and Billing
Management it will display the
information about an
organization’s use of existing
services’ cost and its billing
information.
