13. Why Crush Over the Competition?
Always need to stay on the cutting edge of production equipment
Added value of service plays a major role in the customers choice to work with
Crush
14. Technology in the Industry
Technology is changing rapidly – shifting from traditional to digital across all
print platforms.
Inkjet technology rapidly improving – The largest turning point will be when
Inkjet technology will be able to print with photo quality at similar output speeds.
This will complete the shift from traditional to digital.
Flatbed Inkjet Direct to Substrate – Quality improving advantages of speed,
reduced labor and material consumption. As this technology evolves with Inkjet
the production will shift significantly.
Green (sustainable print processes) – All paper ink and equipment
manufacturers are now taking the impact on the environment into consideration
with new technology.
16. Digital Vs. Mechanical-Based Equipment
Traditional or mechanical processes from photography to print are heading
towards obsolescence.
The lifespan of these mechanical processes depend on the quality of the
digital processes that will replace them as well as the cost of the older and
newer technologies. For example, while digital printing is on par with
traditional printing, the capital cost is so large for the original equipment
that a print shop will use this equipment until it is no longer useful, which
may be 10+ years.
17. Purchasing Equipment – New Vs. Used
Crush typically purchases new equipment. Equipment changes so rapidly
that used equipment is often obsolete. There are times however that we will
buy used equipment to increase redundancy of already existing services,
especially if we see technology changing dramatically in the near future.
