1. CROS AIDS
Many people have very poor hearing
in one ear. For years, they have
gone through life feeling lopsided.
They can’t hear conversation from
the “bad” ear side. They always try
to position the person they are
having a conversation with on the
“good” ear side. Or they always
have to turn their head so the
“good” ear is toward the speaker.
When sirens sound or the phone
rings, they can’t tell where the sound is coming from.
Up to this point, the solutions were worse than the problem! You could wear
a hearing device on both sides with a wire connecting them around your
neck. CUTE! Or you could wear a huge hearing device on each side. Not
very attractive.
Now Phonak, the largest hearing aid distributor in the world, has come out
with their new CROS hearing aid designs. A CROS hearing aid (placed on
the “bad” side”) sends a wireless signal to the hearing device in the “good”
side. Several things make this an exciting option:
1. The new aids are small and lightweight, just like the other new designs on
the market.
2. You can even get small, in-the-canal hearing devices that can hold the
CROS components.
3. The hearing devices use the latest, most technologically advanced
computer chips and programs so the sounds are clearer and there is less
background noise.
2. If you have always had a “bad” ear and want to try hearing with both ears
again, call South Bay Hearing & Balance Center and schedule your
complimentary Hearing Solutions Consultation and CROS aids demo.
