The document discusses the concept of "creative destruction" which refers to the process of continuous innovation and change that destroys older businesses and industries while creating new ones. It provides examples of how technological innovations from companies like Facebook, Netflix, and Google have destroyed industries like network TV, film rentals, and phone companies. It also discusses how businesses use disruption strategies to displace competitors and gain market share. While creative destruction drives progress, it also impacts human dignity and quality of life in ways that are not fully captured by economic measures alone. There are questions around ensuring creativity benefits humanity and whether markets alone can adequately address these issues.
Many thanks to Saul Kaplan for starting this with his original post on moving from a knowledge economy to a passion economy. Also a great shout out to everyone who worked together to make this thing a reality. NOTE: This is not a PPT, but a print document. But I got a bunch of requests to post it here as well. Enjoy!
If war is an inherently human phenomenon, the discussion of the human aspects of war is as timeless as the discussion of war itself. One prudent starting point for any discussion on military issues is the philosophy of war described by the 19th-century theorist Carl Von Clausewitz. In Clausewitz, we have a life-long soldier explaining what it takes to reach the highest strata of the weapons profession; we would be wise to listen to what he has to say.
Nevertheless, digitization is not just about technology. Only exposure to the best technology does not guarantee digital performance. More traditional companies must have the best mix of talent to drive to make a successful transition. Companies will blend internal expertise expected to be "digitally equipped" with chosen, externally attracted, "born-digital" talent from pure-play Web 4.0 or "Internet of Things" organizations, or from traditional companies more experienced in digital approaches.
There is a big hurdle: highly experienced digital talent either capable of transforming or having the characteristics and skills to be technologically ready in the near future, is rare and in high demand. Leaders with "digital" or "internet" in their names are currently hot commodities. Compounding the problem: Leaders who are likely to succeed in leading a digital transition in a conventional company may have a markedly different profile from those who usually flourish in a pure-play, native-digital enterprise. Some research shows, born-to-digital executives may be more likely to rise through the expert ranks of pure-to-play work firms; they are often narrowly focused on one key area. On the other side, managers who excel in traditional companies appear to be largely based on their experience and abilities, including their ability to read people and inspire teams. As this analogy indicates, digital performance is not a' one-size-fits-all' skill proposition.

Chapter 2: Decision Making—The Surprising Reasons People Say Yes and No
Picking his way through the cramped ballroom, with people-filled padded chairs all askew, there was no clear route. Obstacles,
however, were not this man’s primary concern. On his face, you could see his mind racing—searching for what he would say
once he was in front of the crowd. Few people like public speaking, but this situation seemed even more torturous than usual.
He found his standing spot, turned, and faced the crowd.
“I have traveled three hours round-trip every day to attend this session. I’ve driven dangerous roads and in heavy traffic. You
are a talented and knowledgeable group. I have learned from you, and you have learned from me. And I sure could use the
money to help pay for gas. Please, please. Pick me!”
That scene played out in a Calgary persuasion workshop during which I asked three volunteers to vie for a single, crisp $100
bill by convincing the audience to individually award them the money. The idea: Whoever makes the most compelling case,
winning the affections of the crowd, walks away with the cash and the bragging rights.
Participants are allowed to make their case in any way they deem appropriate, with one exception: They can’t share the money
or materially benefit the crowd in any way. (I’ll buy you all drinks!) Adding to the pressure, I give them just four minutes to
develop their case and only 25 seconds to present it.
What would you say if you were in this situation?
This activity mirrors business life today in many ways. You are often in competition with others for the account, the promotion,
the project. You must think on your feet and be able to put together compelling arguments fast, and you might not have much
time to state your case. Sometimes you need to do all this—especially in peer-to-peer persuasion situations—without offering
your target some sort of material gain. Not an easy assignment, to be sure.
The most interesting aspect of this workshop activity, though, is not the people vying for the money—it’s the people deciding
who will earn the money. You may think that people are carefully analyzing participants’ arguments, weighing the pros and the
cons to rationally decide who gets their votes. That’s not what’s happening. At all. The surprising truth is that most people have
no idea why they say yes.
UNEXPECTED TRUTHS ABOUT YOUR THINKING

The beer game - a production distribution simulationTristan Wiggill
A presentation by Michael D. Ford CFPIM, CSCP, CQA, CRE, CQE, Principal, TQM Works Consulting, USA delivered during the 38th annual SAPICS event for supply chain professionals in Sun City, South Africa.
The Beer Game was developed by Jay Forrester at MIT’s Sloan business school in the early 1960s. It is a simple yet realistic simulator of the supply chain and is used as a teaching tool for systems dynamics. It has been played all over the world by thousands of people ranging from high school students to chief executive officers and government officials. Each participant plays a role in the production and distribution of a product, in this case “beer”.

Book Preview: The Timeless Essence of Financial ScienceRajesh Mudholkar
Chapter summaries and preview pages of book based on a breakthrough research that busts several misconceptions and flaws deeply embedded in corporate finance, that contribute to financial crises.
As part of the IPA Excellence Diploma, I wrote a fairly lengthy piece entitled:
"I believe that the future of brands requires heresy: It's time for a new system of leading beliefs".
Even the title is lengthy.
So I've turned it into a presentation and chunked it up into three parts. This is the first, which establishes what I think the problem with the modern marketing industry is, and why we need heretical behaviour to solve it.
Natural or Neutral: Real Interest Rates are PositiveSean Corrigan
Why is there such a thing as an interest rate? How is it determined? What role does the central bank play in its formation? What happens if they err? Can the rate ever be negative?
It is an organization`s culture that provides the biggest challenge and at the same time, the biggest lever to form an agile organization.
So how can we grasp the concept of organizational culture in an actionable way? What is the essence of an agile culture? What are the elements? How is this culture formed and developed? Where are the levers and pitfalls? What does work hands-on?
Puckett`s book delivers answers to those questions and explains how organizational culture can be created and formed. Insights from organizational psychology are translates into practical advice. Based on analysis of agile organizations and those in transition, the agile culture code is decoded. The core elements of agile organizational cultures are defined and elaborated. The book is filled with field-proven culture hacks, tips, tools and methods, and illustrated with many examples.
Puckett provides a new perspective on organizational culture. For it is in our hands to shape the culture: As individual, as team, as leader. We are organizational culture.
This atlas invites to experiment and create, and shows how organizations can master the agile transformation.
“An extremely useful tool for anyone struggling to navigate the tricky world of cultural change in organizations.” Michael Wade, Professor at IMD, Director of the Global Center for Digital Business Transformation
“This book uncovers what is needed to build agility and provides very valuable guidance.” Audrey Clegg, Group Talent Director at Coca-Cola HBC
REcent years have seen a rising interest for "swarms", meaning instant campaigns, unconferences, hackathons and other unorthodox constellations of people in action that are both collaborative and non-hierarchical. For years now I have been involved in policy initiatives that incorporate an element of that openness, of that fluidity. Can we really speak of policy making for swarms? If so, what does that mean?
These slides accompanied my talk at Big Picture Days Episode 1 in London, on June 1st 2013.

The present work aims at debating and discussing an analysis about the current concept of “Product” to “Intelligent Product ” (IP), capable of satisfying the evolutionary desires of customers and, at the same time, of achieving a sustainable business model for companies in a framework of ongoing value creation.
It is about concept and reference, aiming at fostering brainstorming to contribute to better decision making.
This IP (object, not subject) is a value proposition which represents a commitment to providing a set of attributes to the expectations of someone (subject, not object) who, in turn, will be willing to exchange something for it.
IP is an experience whose best attribute is its ability to remain in time. However, for this to happen, products will have to be conceived out from people’s everyday life, not from abstract theories. Therefore, we must learn how to read into people’s everyday lives. We must build up the satisfier from costumers´ experience, from their surrounding world. We must think from an interdependent point of view -where there are factors related to customers’ feelings, idiosyncrasy, relationships and communities-, stepping aside, at least for a moment, from abstract theories.
“With abstract theories we tend to get borders so close to us that if we took them seriously, it wouldn’t be worth living in this world”
We must explore new universes which are much closer than we think. We must only go for them, and expand our narrow vision, which keeps us from “watching”. Expand this shortness which keeps us from understanding, and, consequently, prevents us from taking action, getting control. We are limited at understanding, surveying, exploring, assessing; we work and make decisions based on abstract models which can only be conveyed on a piece of paper; we must learn how to train and believe in our own critical and creative thinking. Only that will enable us to take in information and turn it into knowledge, and be innovative enough to consequently deliver a satisfier other than a cheap imitation.
E-BOOK GUIDE FOR TRANSFORMATION MANAGERS.Farooq Omar
Numerous leadership groups have figured out how to convey results over the previous decade without embracing the most recent innovation pattern. Yet, on:-
the off chance that the pandemic disturbance has shown one exercise, it's that associations working with inheritance framework and simple cycles will battle to meet the assumptions for clients who've been compelled to go advanced.
Frequently, a wide hole exists between the HR procedure of an association and what precisely is required by the business methodology on the HR front. Since the ability of the right demeanor and responsibility is needed to execute the technique, misalignment doesn't allow this reality to occur. The individuals who can impact the arrangement, regularly come way in front of others. Absence of viable Skills and Development. Associations hiring professionals with inconsistent degrees of abilities and ability is seen as another significant hindrance in adjusting the business and HR vital goal. In this unique situation, improper determination, recruiting, and preparing methodology leads towards helpless human asset advancement
Our organizational leadership cultural mindset has shown deficiencies since last few decades. Reasons of such behavioral patterns are not known to me (rather not expose here) for now, but, surely it implies some serious hidden peculiar ‘insecurities & egoist’ issues. The few organizational design structures who blessed with such issues have shown market leadership and more importantly, ‘Sustenance’ to remain as ‘Pioneers’ and not as followers and laggards.

In the business space, a marker is a mathematical worth that is connected to some sort of cycle or business objective.
Its essential objective is to show a number that can give us a thought regarding the current presentation of the processor's business objective.
Addressing the inquiry concerning driving execution, it is right to state that driving presentation is handled into the slacking execution for a situation when the theory that remains behind the objective ends up being valid.
A more secure option for the KPI expression would be "pointer" or "metric."
Spry organizations need to have the option to quickly change on all fronts, including Marketing. Creative destruction Economics, Business and Values
1. Creative Destruction.
I wouldn't be shocked if my thoughts are spurious — the fundamental
deliberation of recharging and change as ceaseless creation and obliteration
is really essential, and I'd anticipate that it should have been rediscovered
on various occasions in my day to day existence and read and seen around
the world.
Presently, this Covid-19, innovative obliteration. Some may concur or
dissent, however, I discover it as one of them. An unquestionable
requirement for the change of this world into some new and better???
2. however, I am told by more proficient individuals, better comprehended as
representing nonstop recharging through imaginative annihilation
However, inquisitively, I've generally felt somewhat hesitant to go read this
load of stuff. As far as I might be concerned, the possibility of innovative
obliteration is so basic and fundamental — basically aphoristic, that I am
careful about defiling my crude instinct of the thought with a ton of
postmodern (or besides, Vedantic) verbiage. As it were, monosyllabic
exercise center athletes offering secretive comments about muscles being
destroyed and modified more grounded improve than scholastics do. I
dread the wizardry of the thought may vanish in the event that I over-
examine it.
From the heart of all matter
Comes the anguished cry
Wake, wake, great Siva,
Our body grows weary
Of its law-fixed path,
Give us new form
Sing our destruction,
That we gain new life…
— Rabindranath Tagore
In Economic space, the expression, "Move quick, break things" is a horrible
method to sort out an economy… Though it is done more often than not
through sudden changes in 'Financing costs' which swells through the
whole worth chain, at first dangerous however deliberately helpful (for the
most part).
Another illustration of corporate, where, valley environment Facebook
imparts to Apple, Netflix, Google, and other tech overlords encapsulates the
words, and their aggregate innovative endeavors have brought about the
obliteration of endless ventures—network TV, film rental stores, phone
organizations, just to give some examples. Digitally induced destruction of
3. minds to penetrate and change infuse attractions, that are mostly not what
they really are in vogue now. Yet essential as they say.
“Then I must agree, imposing wars on wrong pretexts by implanting ‘false’
notions to gather public support to show their righteousness and makingit
a just cause, is also ‘Creative Destruction:
Additionally, business specialists and advertisers use disturbance
methodologies to 'upset' the Market Space grid to oust their rivals and gain
and make advances. (Porter marks it as, 'danger of new participants. Right
in his view, however, I differ on the appearance that such moves are the
foundation of any business substance as telling how 'shrewd' they are who
can do that...

“But Schumpeter anticipates and exposes the poverty of this view: Even if
we had the means of measuringthe change in the technological efficiency
of industrial products, this measure would still fail to convey an adequate
idea of what it means for the dignity or intensity or pleasantness of human
life—for all that the economists of an earlier generation subsumed under
the heading of Satisfaction of Wants. (emphasis added).
Review innovative annihilation, disrupting market space on these terms
opens opportunities for understanding this wonder in competitors of
progressiveways. Understanding the "opening up of new business sectors"
and new "authoritative turns of events" in manners that attempt to "give a
sufficient thought of how it affects the poise" of human existence.
Implies posing inquiries about imagination and its setting that perceive the
multi-layered nature of human existence. That monetary standards of
frugality and effectiveness, for all their significance, are not the sole good
models by which things are judged. It implies making decisions about the
longings that drive imagination.
“Possibly our perspective on the equity of business sectors needs to consider
the degree to which equity is characterized by perceiving God.”
Endeavoring to address those inquiries won't really need a specific reaction
by, say, the state to forestall particular sorts of imagination. We are not
generally mindful of the results—greator sick—of specific methods of
inventiveness, and it pays to be unassuming in assessing things.
Yet, it won't do to trade lowliness in friendly or political reactions to
imaginative annihilation for the hubris of business sectors. Our quest for a
superior lifestyle choice in and comprehend the economy requires hard
contemplating a satisfactory thought of the pride of human existence.
5. “Also, maybe, in the lasting hurricanes of imaginative annihilation, this
requires something neither the market nor anything on God's acceptable
earth, can give… Mind it”, this principal is also applied by mankind on
humans to get their gains and satisfy their whims…if all mentioned is
necessary,then why not on humans?
