This document provides instructions for students to create a map of their own imaginary country over two class periods. It outlines the key elements the map must include: drawing the country shape on graph paper, adding a compass rose and scale; labeling lines of latitude and longitude with numbers not just 1, 2, 3, etc.; including a prime meridian, equator, flags, and 15 latitude and longitude coordinates for locations within the country; and attaching the finished map to a larger piece of paper along with a map key explaining the symbols.
