Hiring Department Manager
Dear Sir or Madam:
Please consider my application for a Software Development Engineer/SDET Intern position. I will
graduate from the University of South Florida on May 5th
2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Computer Science.
As you can see from my enclosed résumé,my first degree was a Bachelor of Science in Medical
Technology, and have been working as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for the last 15 years in various
roles. Some of the qualities that make me an excellent laboratory scientist would also make me a great
candidate for your position. I am very meticulous about following procedure, something that is vital in
the laboratory, and I am quite handy with troubleshooting instrumentation that is malfunctioning, whether
it be hardware or software related. For a three year period I was also the 3rd
Shift Supervisor in charge
of three core areas of the laboratory: Specimen Receiving, Hematology, and Chemistry. I am quite
comfortable coming up with solutions to problems quickly, writing schedules, organizing monthly
employee meetings, interviewing new employees, and performing yearly evaluations for merit raises.
This experience has given me the opportunity to improve my professional writing skills, speak
comfortably in front of large groups, and enhance my interpersonal communication skills with
professionals of all levels.
I am aware I have no formal work experience but I take my classes very seriously, and received top
grades in many of the projects that I have coded. My coding skills include C/C#/C++,Java,
HTML5/CSS/Javascript, and Python. My course work at the University of South Florida has included
relational database design, data mining, analysis ofalgorithms, circuit design, and object oriented
design. I am eager to learn, retain new skills and information quickly, and I am very comfortable
working in teams in order to accomplish a mutual goal.
My references will confirm that I am disciplined, ambitious, punctual and reliable – someone willing to
take on new projects and able to work individually as well as in teams.
I know I would make a worthwhile contribution to your team, if my background meets your needs, please
phone any weekday after 12:00 p.m. at (813) 503-1652 or email at lfeliciano@mail.usf.edu.
Sincerely,
Luis S. Feliciano
