Canadian culture flourished in the 20th century with the development of many art schools and universities. Painters found fame depicting the landscapes and native culture, including the Group of Seven, while Inuit artists specialized in sculptures made from materials like ivory and soapstone. Canada also has a large theater scene, including the second largest fringe festival in Edmonton and the popular Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Canadian cuisine stems from a mixture of American, British, French and indigenous influences, featuring wild game, seafood and dishes like poutine and butter tarts.
