This document provides instructions for a webquest assignment for 6th grade social studies students. Students will work collaboratively in groups to research an assigned country, writing a 2-3 page research paper and creating an informational video. They will present their findings to the class by showing their video and sharing a traditional food from their country. The assignment aims to teach students about different characteristics of countries around the world and how to properly cite sources. researching one of these countries: Libya, Afghanistan, Chile, Israel, Slovakia, Wales, and

4. Every group will write a research paper on their country using Google docs and the
topics listed above
5. The students will then take the information from their research paper and create a video
using animoto.com
6. After the students have had 3 weeks to complete the assignment, they will present their
country to the class by showing the video they made and they will also make a dish to
share with the class that is common food in the country they researched.
7. For every student in the group there should be one resource that was used and cited
while doing their project (ex. 4 people in a group 4 sources used and cited).
8. Students will turn in their research paper when they present their video.

8.  Give credit!
› Don’t pass others work off as your own.
Everyone works hard to produce or develop
things and ideas on topic, and they do so to
share with others. This doesn’t mean though
that we can pass them off as our. Always
make sure to properly cite where something
has come from.

9.  Easybib.com is a free and useful internet
cite that helps create bibliographies.
Bibliographies are important to research
and essays because they clearly show
the the sources we use to create our
own texts.
 All you have to do is fill out the basic
information on the source in Easy Bib and
the website compiles the correct type of
citation based on what form you are
using. (MLA, APA, etc.)

10.  Purdue Owl is a free online writing lab
that provides many tutorials and services
that assist in constructing research
paper. It also shows proper ways to cite
sources within the texts, depending on
