I had the opportunity to participate in a Corporate Social Responsibility Program as a volunteer, helping local non-profit organizations in Ecuador. It was a truly unique and life-changing experience. I really recommend companies to have similar programs and to employees to participate! I summarized my learning points on the last side and also on my blog https://ecuadorfromhungary2014.wordpress.com. Enjoy!

17. What did I learn?
• Openness: when everything is new, there is no such thing as „strange”,
but you can discover how beautiful our world is.
• Cooperation in a completely new environment: you need a lots of
flexibility, give up your expectations and prepare for unexpected: it is
challenging, but very rewarding!
• Self-awareness: being out of the comfort zone and freeing up the mind
from the usual routine, giving back energy as well as a offering different
perspective.
• Make new connections: the whole world can suddenly be your home,
making friends from all over the world (and then you also see your own
country from a different angle)
• Work without stress: working hard paying attention also to the personal
matters, always finding time to have a nice moment – it makes a big
difference.
• Respect towards the others, towards the nature: helping each other
also in difficult times, and value what you already have.
simply: love life!
