This document outlines Ohio's Early Childhood Core Knowledge and Competencies, which define the essential knowledge and skills needed by all early childhood professionals working with children from birth to age 8. It is organized into six content areas: Child Growth and Development, Family and Community Relations, Health, Safety and Nutrition, Child Observation and Assessment, Professional Development, and Learning Environments and Experiences. For each content area, the document provides a rationale, knowledge base, and observable competencies defined at three levels of professional development. The goal is to establish a framework that supports early childhood professionals in gaining and advancing their knowledge and skills over time.
