Over the summer, the author was tasked with requesting copyright clearance to use songs by UK artists. They chose to request permission for two songs - "Bad Idea" by AlunaGeorge, which is published by Universal Music Publishing Group UK, and "For What It's Worth" by unsigned artist Kymberley Kennedy. Contacting the unsigned artist was easier through direct messages on social media. However, contacting Universal Music Group was more difficult, requiring clicking through their website before finding a contact email address. The author formally requested permission for both songs and is now awaiting a response.
