- Hello, and welcome to my presentation. My name is Colleen Conwell. I am a math teacher at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, VA. I have been teaching all levels of math from 7 through 12 for the past 15 years. I am currently working on my Masters degree in Library Science at Old Dominion University. - Using I-nigma, I created this QR Code to connect to my blog about library science and technology. All I had to do was type in the website. Take a moment to try out this code. - Going back to my Haiku Deck for the Japanese Internment Camps, I decided I didn’t like the bottom of the picture that showed the technology being used wherever this picture came from, so I cropped it out. But I also wanted to make note that at the Japanese Interment Camps, they were allowed to do laundry, unlike the Concentration Camps in Europe. So, I was able to use a box to highlight this. You can also add arrows or insert text. (45 seconds)

- This is quick video I created to show how to use a database on the ODU Library site. (Show video – 3 minutes.) So as you can see, this tool is really effective for teacher to use when teaching students how to use something on the computer, be it your online textbook or maybe an online simulation. What if you need your math students to write something in Googledocs? You can create a video showing them how to insert an equation into their document and post it to your website or Blackboard page so that everyone has access to it! (4 minutes total)

- The following video will show you a coding exercise that I did with a group of other teachers. We had to create a story and devise a plan that would include our Sphero. Then we had to create a scene for our story. Once we had everything set up, we had to code our Sphero to follow the story. We started and stopped a million times! Each time we added a piece of code, we tried it to see if it worked. As a math teacher, I loved it! We worked with manipulating the timing and speed, which correlates with Algebra standards A.7 and A.8 about function operations. If you increase your speed, you need to decrease the time. Remember, distance is equal to rate times time. When we turned, we had to use angles which correlates to the Math 8.6 standard of measuring angles, as well as the geometric applications of angles. With all of the trial and error, it took us several hours! (1 minute 30 seconds.)
- This was our final presentation. We also had to video the story and download it. When Sphero hit the edge of the dock, we all held our breath! Each time we ran the script, something changed, so you have to be very careful. You may not change the code, but if you start even a centimeter away from the last time, everything can change. Students could create there videos and share them in your Google Classroom. (2 min 30 seconds with video)
