This document discusses and analyzes several artworks created by Madame Yevonde. It focuses on four specific images: an interpretation of the story of Medusa, an image of a woman holding a glass ball to her eyes, a piece that intrigues the writer about what may be happening in the scene, and an work depicting a sad woman with flowers on her arm and a crown on her head that seems adapted from a movie. For each image, the writer examines compositional elements and symbolism that interest and intrigue them about Madame Yevonde's style and the narratives behind the artworks.
2. Madame Yevonde I choose Madame Yevonde as her work stood out most to me, her style is different and intriguing. Ifound her artwork really interesting and wanted to look at it more in further detail to find out more about her, all her images have stories behind them. Her use of colour is really intense and the lighting creates a brilliant effect on her art.
3. This is my favourite image that Madame Yevonde did. The story behind the image is Medusa, She had snakes for hair and when you looked into her eyes you turned to stone. I feel your eyes are automatically drawn to the eyes in this picture which creates a really nice effect.
4. I choose this image as I found it really interesting, It is simple yet still catches your eye, the line down the middle is mirrored so the image reflects on both sides but yet it makes the picture look like a book, I think the main part of the image is the glass ball she is holding, as her eyes are looking into the ball it leads your eyes to it.
5. This image makes you wonder what's happening. I’m not sure if it is meant to be showing her being killed as there is a wooden spike looking like it’s gone through her and also as her eyes are closed and her head is back . It really intrigues me and I've spend a long time studying this image.
6. I have chosen this image as found it really interesting and nice to look at, The woman looks sad but yet you can’t figure out from the picture why. She has flowers going up her arm and it looks like she has a crown on her head which means this could have been recreated from a movie like Madame yevonde did with the Medusa image. Lady Bridgett Poulett as Arethusa by Madame Yevonde (1935)
7. I chose this piece of artwork as I like how simple yet effective it is. It looks like there is a story behind it. I like how Madame Yevonde has put a animal in the image with the woman and she is so close with it, it’s random but fits with the look of the picture, The woman also looks upset but it’s not explainable within the image.
