The document proposes FP-CryptDB, a combination of CryptDB and format-preserving encryption. FP-CryptDB uses a flexible Naor-Reingold scheme to encrypt database fields while preserving their length and format. This achieves a 50% reduction in encrypted database size compared to CryptDB alone. However, there is a 7x performance degradation compared to CryptDB due to the additional processing of format-preserving encryption. Experimental results demonstrate the storage gains and performance impacts of the approach.
