Mandura or lohakitta is a mineral drug utilized in Ayurveda only after proper pharmaceutical processing for the management of Pandu, Pliharoga, Kamala etc.
2. SWARUPA
➢ When iron is heated red hot and hit with heavy hammers in the factories and in blacksmith’s
workshop, the rust at the surface of the iron falls off to the ground.
➢ After few years, this rust is obtained as solidified iron-rust and is identified as ‘loha mala’ or
‘mandura’.
➢ Chemically it is iron oxide (Fe2O3)

6. MANDURA SODHANA
➢ Nirvapa in gomutra for 7 times in which mandura is made red hot over the intense fire
produced by the vibhithaka kashta or over the glowing charcoal of same plant (RT)
➢ Mandura is heated repeatedly and dipped into the triphala kwatha prepared in gomutra
until the entire mandura turns into powder (RRS)
7. MANDURA MARANA (RT)
Fine powder of mandura is triturated in triphala kwatha/loha marakagana dravya
