Do your research and verify facts before you post or react to comments in your blog. Don’t be lazy and
publish anything without looking at a story, idea, issue, or argument from all sides to be able to exercise
objectivity.
lack of research may result in misinformation that can makey you appear irresponsible and tarnish your
online reputation
2. Quote sources properly.
Always give credit and create a text or image link to the source whenever you refer to any idea, writing, or
creation of any other person
Provide a citation or information that readers can use to track down source if the original source cannot be linked
to easily.
Quoting sources properly allows readers to get to the root of the facts and it shows respect to your sources.
Claiming someone else’s work or idea as your own is a breach of ethics which can also lead to legal charges in
extreme cases.
12. 3. Check your entries on sensitive or controversial issues.
Check your planned entry before posting a controversial or sensitive issue to make sure you are as
objective as can be
4. Be civil and respectful.
How you say things says a lot about the kind of person you are. While having a blog gives you the
freedom to say what you want or put whatever words you like, the use of socially unacceptable words
will ultimately damage you and you alone.
You have to critize things in the most civil way. The abillity to put your criticism and point across politely
reflects on your breeding.
5. Control the comments.
You must exercise responsibility and control over what other people post on your blog through the
comments
Have the choice to allow comments to be approved automatically or to screen comments first before
they are posted.
If you blog about sensitive issues, criticisms, and negative reactions that are inevitable, draw the line
towards the use of foul and derogatory words.
13. 6. Apply discretion when a post is sponsored.
A blog post that is paid for and written for the benefit of another is called sponsored post. It
is better to disclose when an entry is a sponsored post to remain transparent to your
viewers and to build on your credibility
If the company or person you’re writing for does not object, it’s usually a courtesy to post a
disclosure notice at the end of each sponsored post or anywhere suitable on the page of
your blog.
