COMPUTER AND ITS TYPES
There are many types of computers
 Mainframe computer
 Super computer
 Workstation computer
 Personal computer
 Apple Macintosh
 Laptop computer
1) MAINFRAME COMPUTER
 Mainframes are a type of computer that generally are known
for their large size, amount of storage, processing power and
high level of reliability
 A single mainframe can replace dozens or even hundreds of
smaller servers.
2. SUPER COMPUTER
 A supercomputer is a computer with a high level of
performance compared to a general-purpose computer
 This term is commonly applied to the fastest high-
performance systems available at any given time
3. WORK STATION COMPUTER
 It is a high-performance computer system
 A workstation is more capable than a personal
computer (PC) but is less advanced than a server
 Workstations are used primarily to perform
computationally intensive scientific and engineering
tasks.
4. Personal computer
 A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose
microcomputer whose size, capabilities, and price
make it feasible for individual use.
 Personal computer users may develop their own
applications, usually these systems run commercial
software
5. MACINTOSH COMPUTER
 The original Macintosh is the first successful mass-
market all-in-one desktop personal computer to have
featured a graphical user interface, built-in screen,
and mouse.
 Nick name of Macintosh is MAC
6. LAPTOP COMPUTER
 Laptops usually come with displays that use thin-
screen technology.
 Laptop computers generally cost more than desktop
computers with the same capabilities because they
are more difficult to design and manufacture.
