Australian indigenous and Maori spiritualities are compared based on five characteristics: they have highly developed pre-technological world views that see creation as ongoing and cyclical rather than linear; beliefs are transmitted orally through sacred stories rather than written texts; relationships with nature and the land are integral; and all aspects of life are expressed through the arts. Differences and similarities between the two spiritualities are noted for each characteristic.
