4. Introduction
Empowerment is the process of
increasing the authority and responsibility of
individual or groups to make choices and to
transform those choice and desired actions
and outcomes.

Women empowerment refers to
increasing the spiritual, political, social,
educational, gender, or economics strength of
individuals and communities of women.

6. Importance of women empowerment.
Women must be given equal opportunities in every
field, irrespective of gender.
Moreover, they must also be given equal pay.
We can empower women by abolishing child marriage.
Various programs must be held where they can be
taught skills to fend for themselves in case they face
financial crisis.

against women and girl child.
Building and strengthening partnership with civil society
particularly women's organisations.

12. The Swa-Shakti project, which started in the year 1988, aimed at
development and empowerment of women (economical), particularly
those engaged in “on farm” activities in rural areas, through the
formation of dynamic Self Help Groups (SHG).

13. The Government had set up Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK). It
was established in 1993 as a national level autonomous body
for socio-economic empowerment of women, especially those
in the rural and unorganized sector, by providing them
