The re-launch of Ladismith Victim Friendly Room – 08 June 2016
Today the new-look victim friendly room is set to give hope and comfort to all victims of crime and violence, who will have more
than just a shoulder to cry on in starting the healing process in a newly, refurbished room here at Ladismith Police Station. This is
the 51st
room to be re-launched in the Western Cape policing area and all of these rooms are decorated in a similar way with
bright colours and mural on the wall to make the space as inviting as possible.
I urge you to come and break the silence and
assist in educating the importance thereof, because education is the key of success and power. Today again I would like to
underline and say in bold “BREAK THE SILENCE OF VIOLENCE AND RAISE YOUR VOICE”. The biggest problem is
silence. We need to name and shame the perpetrators.
I would like to thank the volunteers for their dedication, offering their time and hard work in being the bearers of hope, comfort and
support. You make it possible at all times. It’s like the slogan “Spar Good For You” so is it with those victims who comes here to
become victors.
Thank you for the continuous support of Spar Western Cape, and in particular the
Ladismith Spar, for your interest and generous contribution to your community.
Thank you, Business Against Crime Western Cape for being the project
manager and the South African Police Services, the implementing agent. Thank
you to the community and all other role players for taking hands with
Ladismith Police Station to make the change in your community.
