The AREI significant as it is Africa's statement of commitment to the sustainable energy component of the global 2015 Sustainable Development Goals, and aims to drastically reduce the continent's energy poverty.

Livestock GRACEnet is a United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service working group focused on atmospheric emissions from livestock production in the USA. The working group presently has 24 scientists from 13 locations covering the major animal production systems in the USA (dairy, beef, swine, and poultry). The mission of Livestock GRACEnet is to lead the development of management practices that reduce greenhouse gas, ammonia, and other emissions and provide a sound scientific basis for accurate measurement and modeling of emissions from livestock agriculture. The working group fosters collaboration among fellow scientists and stakeholders to identify and develop appropriate management practices; supports the needs of policy makers and regulators for consistent, accurate data and information; fosters scientific transparency and rigor and transfers new knowledge efficiently to stakeholders and the scientific community. Success in the group's mission will help ensure the economic viability of the livestock industry, improve vitality and quality of life in rural areas, and provide beneficial environmental services. Some of the research highlights of the group are provided as examples of current work within Livestock GRACEnet. These include efforts aimed at improving emissions inventories, developing mitigation strategies, improving process-based models for estimating emissions, and producing fact sheets to inform producers about successful management practices that can be put to use now.
On March 5th, 2010 the UNH Wildcats, Whittemore School of Business, New Hampshire Division of Economic Development and Public Service of New Hampshire hosted a unique afternoon workshop at UNH aimed at building teams, developing effective leaders and stimulating innovation.
The "Wild for Innovation" workshop was developed specifically for New Hampshire business leaders and their teams, and included presentations like this one, on the Green Launching Pad initiative, by George Hurtt and Venky Venkatachalam.

Africa has been witnessing energy crisis for the past few decades. The region is resorting to other energy resources, mainly renewable energy, to resolve its energy problems. Abundant and free-of-cost renewable energy sources such as the wind and sun are considered to be lucrative and viable options.
Highlights of the Air Quality Education in Animal Agriculture ProjectLPE Learning Center

Through the Air Quality Education in Animal Agriculture (AQEAA) project, Land-Grant University specialists from across the U.S. have been collaborating in delivering applied, research-based air quality information to those who work with livestock and poultry producers. The AQEAA project developed Air Quality content on the Animal Manure Management eXtension website in collaboration with the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Center (LPELC). The Air Quality web content makes widely accessible the educational resources produced by this project for use in developing the knowledge base and skills of professionals who interact [and pre-professionals who plan to interact] with livestock and poultry producers. The online materials include 18 written publications, 3 videos, and 16 recorded webinars (webcasts). Also made accessible are selected research and technology summaries as well as online content produced by other organizations. The AQEAA project also developed the skills of professionals regarding air quality topics via professional development events. Website usage information, participant polls, and stakeholder surveys provided evidence that the resources developed by this project are being utilized and that delivery of the information via eXtension has been an effective means of communicating information on this topic. Webcasts were especially effective in communicating information and providing continuing professional development. AQEAA-sponsored workshops were effective in providing in-depth air quality information and experiences to more than 300 professionals. Collaboration with the LPELC facilitated having a ready eXtension outlet for project materials and is providing continued, sustainable access to online information from this project.

Climate Smart Agriculture Project: using policy and economic analysis as a ba...FAO

This presentation was prepared as background to the FAO TCI Investment Days 2013 held at IFAD on 17-18 December. The presentation provides an overview of the theory of change of the FAO-EC Climate-Smart Agriculture project and highlights the contribution of the project in providing sound evidence for investment proposals.
The study highlights 30 specific reform steps, that are more than enough. In the United States, people have said that they can. They can bring about change. It is no different for West Bengal’s citizens. West
Bengal’s citizens deserve a better government and with that new government in place, can bring about change. In 5 years, West Bengal can become a completely different State. One that will not be stuck in India’s
middle, but will be right at the top. One that people don’t migrate away from, but one that people want to migrate into. West Bengal can become a State that one will be proud to live in, provided the political environment changes.
Promise 1: Governance
Governance has collapsed in West Bengal. The first step is to convince West Bengal’s citizens that there is a government. There is law and order. There is an administration that is not run by the party. There is an efficient dispute resolution system.
Promise 2: Land
Land is a key input and development requires more efficient and better-productivity use of land, including that in agriculture.
Promise 3: Labour
Other than land, labour is a key input and West Bengal’s strength lies in its human resources. However, the tapping of this potential requires improved physical and social infrastructure outcomes.
Promise 4: Capital
With governance, land and labour reforms in place, there is not much that has to be done for capital and industry. West Bengal’s advantages will ensure that capital moves in, without special fiscal incentives, and
that capital flight is reversed. Informal unorganized enterprises will become formal and organized. Subsistence self-employment will become productive wage employment. And the rural worker will move to higher income-earning urban pursuits. Having said this, some reforms are indeed necessary.
