In July 2014, the Columbus region experienced significant economic growth, highlighted by the addition of 900 jobs from Zulily, a fast-growing e-commerce company, which will establish a new call center facility. Another company, MPW Industrial Services, is also expanding with a $4.4 million investment, creating 25 engineering jobs, while Reconserve of Ohio plans to build a processing facility with a $9.1 million investment, generating 16 new jobs. zulily, inc., a fast growing e-commerce retail company, is
expanding in Central Ohio and adding 900 new jobs over
the next three years. Its new call center facility will be
temporarily located in Gahanna until a permanent location is
chosen. zulily already has a notable presence in the Region
with a fulfillment center in Obetz employing nearly 700
people. The new location will make the Columbus Region
home to the largest concentration of employment for the
company.
zulily has already begun the hiring process on their website
and will also host a job fair in mid-August to fill the new
positions.

MPW Industrial Services, a leading provider of technology-
based industrial cleaning, facility management, water
purification and container management services is
expanding its Columbus Region presence. The company is
building a new 40,000 square foot building in Union
Township, Licking County. The $4.4 million dollar
investment will go toward construction costs, infrastructure,
and machinery and equipment purchases. Additionally,
MPW will add 25 new, engineering focused jobs over the
next three years.
MPW Industrial Services' founder and CEO credits the
Columbus Region's workforce as a top reason behind its
expansion, noting the engineering and IT expertise here.

ReConserve of Ohio, part of ReConserve Inc., is building a new
50,000 square foot processing facility in Marion, Ohio. The
company is a leading waste removal service and recycler of food
byproducts in the United States; the recycled food waste is then
reprocessed, distributed and sold for livestock consumption.
The $9.1 million investment includes the new building
construction, purchase of new machinery and equipment, rail
access upgrades and training for 16 newly created jobs. The
attraction of ReConserve of Ohio to the Marion location
increases the presence of the agbioscience industry in the
Columbus Region.

According to the 2014 Franklin County Retail Report, retail
employment has grown in the past two years compared to

The latest jobs report from Battelle showed bioscience

Port Columbus pursues nonstop San Francisco air
service
With the help of the Jobs, Expansion &
Transportation (JET) Task Force, Port Columbus is
in talks with United Airlines to add nonstop flight
service to San Francisco. The west coast city is the
most popular destination from Columbus without
direct service with approximately 140 people flying
to San Francisco daily and the same number flying
to Columbus.
David Whitaker, vice president of business
development for the Columbus Regional Airport
Authority, along with the taskforce believe the
nonstop flight service will have local economic
benefit for companies doing business in both
regions.

Export business ramping up at Rickenbacker
Officials of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority
are working with Cathay Pacific and Cargolux to turn
Rickenbacker Airport into an export destination for
regional businesses. In September, Consolidated
Aviation Services will provide warehouse handling
services of import and export cargo at Rickenbacker.
Rickenbacker's central location is a selling point for
Ohio businesses exporting cargo and provides a closer
option than Chicago and New York. Cincinnati,
Cleveland, Detroit and Indianapolis are all within a
three hour drive from Rickenbacker and additionally
stand to benefit from a high quality, lower cost export
option.
