The Harvard Environmental Economics Program (HEEP) conducts research on the environmental and economic impacts of issues at both local and global scales, bringing together faculty and students in environmental and natural resource economics. HEEP research topics include climate change, costs and benefits of environmental protection, and corporate social responsibility. A University of Maine study found that pollution causes $380.9 million in annual costs from childhood diseases in Maine, with lead poisoning alone accounting for $268 million. Memphis Primary Materials is co-sponsoring an upcoming Environmental Economics Conference to discuss anticipated growth in "green jobs" and their economic impacts.
