In today’s world very few of us go physically to banks to operate our accounts. Most of us prefer to operate it right from the comforts of our homes or offices, because we find an ease in doing so.
Cloud computing provides on-demand access to shared computing resources like servers, storage, databases, networking, software and analytics over the internet which can help businesses lower costs and improve scalability and flexibility compared to maintaining their own on-premise IT infrastructure, however some argue that cloud may not be as cost effective long-term as colocation and that hardware issues in the cloud cannot be directly addressed. Overall, cloud appears to offer more advantages than colocation for businesses seeking efficient IT management in a business-to-business framework.
The document discusses the economic benefits and evolution of cloud computing. It outlines the different cloud service delivery models including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The cloud provides an economic model for scaling repeatable workloads and optimizing costs. While public clouds offer advantages, hybrid models are emerging to address specialized needs through both public and private clouds. Adoption challenges include security, compliance, lock-in risks, and ensuring performance and availability across delivery models.

Moving to the cloud provides several benefits for Roamtech including reduced costs, increased flexibility, and improved productivity. However, there are also risks such as security, availability, and integration challenges. A cost-benefit analysis shows potential savings in hardware, electricity, and maintenance costs by migrating services to the cloud, though there would also be one-time costs for integration and testing. Overall, cloud migration could save the company approximately 70,000 per month while improving service delivery and innovation.
A number of studies suggest the number of enterprises switching to Managed Services to focus extensively on their core business processes and operations. The enterprises even have the option to outsource specific aspects of their day-to-day IT operations by choosing from a variety of managed services. For instance, a business can avail specific managed services to run its software applications, manage database operations, monitor system security, manage cloud infrastructure, or protect corporate and user data.
Cloud computing services efficiently allows enterprises to outsource IT services. All the expenses of software, data storage as well as payment and billing procedures are transferred to the cloud provider.
Cloud computing is a big business and can be classified in two categories – consumer cloud and enterprise cloud. Although we are using cloud solutions, many still fail to understand the difference between consumer cloud and business cloud. This piece explains it all clearly.

In 2016, cloud technologies went mainstream. But with maturity came the realization that moving to the cloud doesn’t happen overnight. CIOs are prioritizing hosted computing and cloud data storage. But they’re approaching the shift as a gradual, multi-year journey.
Many startups and small businesses will continue to go all-in on cloud. But enterprises will find success in a slow but steady move from on-prem. Hybrid ecosystems—of data, software, and infrastructure—will be the reality for most established organizations.
As this shift to cloud progresses where are things are headed? This paper highlights the top cloud trends for 2017.
What are the advantages of adopting public cloudNicole Khoo
Public cloud computing provides organizations flexibility, cost reduction, and regular automatic upgrades. Some key benefits of adopting public cloud include flexibility for employees to access data remotely, reduced IT costs as organizations pay only for the resources they use, and automatic software/hardware upgrades managed by cloud providers. However, security is a primary concern for organizations considering public cloud. Service level agreements and ensuring robust security controls, privacy policies, and technical measures can help address these concerns. Migrating workloads to public cloud requires validating applications' technical portability and compliance.
Cloud computing services cover a vast range of options now, from the basics of storage, networking, and processing power through to natural language processing and artificial intelligence as well as standard office applications.

Why you should always choose SaaS and Cloud when you have a choiceLuis Carrasco-Cortes
Acquiring software as a service (SaaS) is an economic decision when all things are equal. In this presentation we will prove that the SaaS offerings are backed up by levels of security and procedures that would cost most businesses millions to enable and manage.
SaaS (Software as a Service) is a cloud computing model where software applications are hosted by a third party and made available to customers over the Internet. With SaaS, customers do not install or maintain software themselves but instead access it through a web browser. Key characteristics of SaaS include multi-tenant architecture that allows data and application sharing, easy customization capabilities for individual customers without affecting common infrastructure, and improved access to software from any device with an Internet connection. SaaS is also highly scalable, provides regular automated updates, and offers flexible pay-as-you-go pricing models. It is one of the most common delivery methods for business applications today.
CoreSite's 2019 SaaS Colocation Buyers Guide Mike Trawick
This document discusses how SaaS providers can win in a competitive landscape by partnering with the right data center. It begins by outlining the benefits of the SaaS model for both end users and providers, such as reduced costs and improved scalability. However, it also notes challenges like availability, performance, resources and security that can hamper SaaS providers if not addressed properly. The document then provides examples of worst case scenarios that can result, before detailing how partnering with a data center that offers centralized colocation with direct cloud connections and dedicated managed services can help SaaS providers optimize their hybrid infrastructure and better address these challenges. It positions CoreSite as such a partner that can enable a winning SaaS
Evaluating the ROI of cloud-based solutions versus on-premise software can sometimes feel a bit like comparing apples to oranges. This white paper provides an overview of the costs and savings associated with a migration to a cloud-based model, including:

Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
What to expect
For the upcoming meetup we are organizing, we have an exciting lineup of activities planned:
-Insightful presentations covering two practical applications of the Power Grid Model.
-An update on the latest advancements in Power Grid -Model technology during the first and second quarters of 2024.
-An interactive brainstorming session to discuss and propose new feature requests.
-An opportunity to connect with fellow Power Grid Model enthusiasts and users.
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

Cloud computing
1.
2. In today’s world very few of us go physically to banks to operate our accounts. Most of
us prefer to operate it right from the comforts of our homes or offices, because we find
an ease in doing so.
Similarly in the IT sphere, cloud computing is the Rock star of the present genre.
Everyone is going ga-ga over it, all due to benefits galore in its offerings to its
consumers.
Now cloud computing comes in 2 flavours – SaaS i.e. Software as a Service; and IaaS –
Infrastructure as a Service. In SaaS, the enterprise applications along with the related
data are hosted on the service providers shared or dedicated servers depending upon
your subscription. This service carries a monthly fee to be paid by the users. Whereas in
IaaS applications it is more consumer and pocket friendly with pay as you use options
available to the users. The service provider offers virtual as well as physical servers
along with other connectivity resources to run your applications on. You have the liberty
of managing the applications and operating systems on your own.
3. The major benefit is that you don’t have to incur capital expenditure and block your hard
earned money. There is greater flexibility to concentrate on your business and future
prospects in managing ups and downs in business trends.
Saving of human resources is another benefit that one gets while opting for the Cloud
Computing services. These are some of the major reasons for the hype in today’s IT
World towards Cloud Computing.
