The Wexner Medical Center is working to improve patient cleanliness and satisfaction scores. Chief nursing officer Jerry Mansfield explains that the issue isn't dirty facilities but the discomfort of sharing semi-private rooms. Patients rate cleanliness using the HCAHPS survey and the goal is for patients to always rate their room as clean. Recent improvements include housekeeping staff making personal connections with patients and training to anticipate their needs. Through these efforts, cleanliness scores have risen with over 90% of patients now indicating their room is always or usually clean.
