The document is an in memoriam for Claude Janssen, who founded INSEAD and passed away in 2021, recognizing his role in founding the prestigious international business school INSEAD and his life from 1930 to 2021.
Seven ways businesses can be a force for goodINSEAD
Business as a force for good doesn’t have to be a grand gesture; it can present itself in small and subtle ways,” says Ilian Mihov, Dean of INSEAD. Here are seven ways businesses and leaders can do their part and make a difference to the world we live in.
5 Ways to Achieve Self-Empowerment for WomenINSEAD
There are rising calls to press forward and progress gender parity in the business world; the first step is to start with oneself. Insights from research papers and articles around the world offer five ways in which women can empower themselves.
The maturity and diversity of the Singapore-based alumni is reflected in their executive positions within the organisations they serve and lead. From chairmen of global multinationals to managing partners at consulting firms; from investment bank CEOs to political leaders to successful entrepreneurs – INSEAD alumni play essential roles in the Singapore and Asian economies.
The Singapore alumni community consists of a very engaged group of 2,448 alumni, committed to INSEAD. This is reflected in the high levels of both event attendance and donor participation.
The donation statistics show that Singapore has not only one of the highest worldwide participation rates in giving back to the school, but also some of the largest donation amounts from individual alumni. A big thank you to our Singapore-based INSEAD Alumni Fund (IAF) Trustees for their continuous engagement with all the alumni based here on our ‘little red dot’!
Our dynamic, hardworking Singapore National Alumni Association (NAA) Executive Committee is as diverse as our alumni base – including Argentinian, Dutch, British, Singaporean, American, Indian, German, French, Lebanese and Australian members!

“Many people would be better off if they did less and reflected more.” — Manfred Kets de Vries, INSEAD Distinguished Professor of Leadership Development & Organisational Change
Despite making technological advances to speed up our work, we somehow find ourselves working more—not less. The busy lifestyle may deceptively make us feel productive and accomplished. But research has finally exposed the tolls of avoiding free time: depression, sleep deprivation, relationship breakdown and poor quality of work, to name a few. Doing nothing may sound like a waste of time, but it's one of the secrets to keeping your brain in top shape.

Sarcasm in the Workplace: What totally works and what doesn'tINSEAD
"I enjoyed your two-hour presentation. It was as exciting as watching paint dry."
When used in the right way, sarcasm can benefit both the user and those on the receiving end. This in turn, inspires creativity in a work environment. Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Despite spending much time and resources developing ambitious strategies, why do some leaders still fail to execute them? Based on articles and research by INSEAD faculty, this SlideShare explores how managers can boost that one vital – but often neglected – element within the organisation: emotional capital.
